Base 12 to 16 inches. A half inch of new snow fell last night, but was mostly blown off the trails by high winds. The skate lanes of all trails except Morris Maze and Hilfiker Hill were groomed this afternoon. New classic tracks on a few trails will be set tomorrow evening in preparation for our annual ‘Women’s Ski’ event on Sunday afternoon.

Base 12 to 18 inches. All of our trails were groomed for skate skiing on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Classic tracks on some trails were reset as well with inconsistent results. We have entered the time of year when days are often above 32F followed by colder nighttime temperatures. Snow conditions are highly variable. Skiers may encounter fast and icy trails at times and/or slow, sticky conditions. Surface irregularities are common and widespread. Like Sergeant Phil Esterhaus says “Let’s be careful out there”.

Base 13 to 19 inches. 4 to 5 inches of new snow on Thursday. All of our trails were groomed for classic and skate skiing on Thursday evening. Heavy winds during the night blew some snow into the fresh corduroy and newly set tracks in a few places, but skiing should be very good at Pincushion through the weekend.

Base 12 to 18 inches. 1 inch of new snow. The skate lanes on most of our trails were groomed on Tuesday evening. The classic tracks have held up well since the last time they were set and the new snow covered up glazing that resulted from recent thaw/refreeze episodes.

Nice skiing this morning at Pincushion. We received about 3/4 of an inch of snow last night, and temps were around 29 degrees while skiing. Skin skis worked great in these conditions, and the new snow covered up what little debris was in the tracks. Skate lane looked firm, but able to edge with this little bit of new snow. Base is still good, so if the weather cooperates we should still have good skiing for a while longer.

Skated the entire Pincushion system this afternoon. Temps started about 33 at 2pm and were 38 by 4pm. The skate deck was firm frozen granular and was not softening thru the afternoon. I was able to get a good edge on the hills and the downhills were consistently fast. Very little debris in the skate lane or classic track in spite of the old snow. Tracks looked glazed but I did not try them. Tons of snow but a refresh and cooler temps would be nice.

Shout out to the Puncushion groomers, thanks to you we had a very pleasant ski today! Your grooming made it safe to ski on the advanced trails. You definitely made the most of what is left. We were mostly on the intermediate trails and on the advanced loop trail. Your report yesterday is very accurate about the conditions.

Base 12 to 18 inches. All of our trails were groomed for classic and skate skiing on Thursday evening. Colder temperatures following several days of warm and sunny weather produced a very hard base that was a challenge to groom. End results vary from location to location.
