Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
It looked like all the trails were open. We skied about half of them and coverage was great. I saw only one patch of churned up earth, and that was on an uphill and easily avoidable. Snow conditions were not great today, however. It was over 30F when we started and was 38F when we wrapped up. Snow was wet, heavy and slow. We spent a good bit of effort having to pole on downhills to move. That's weather for you though. Despite the heat, it seemed like the trails were holding up well.

Very good considering the warm conditions! Was able to do most of the loops without seeing bare spots. Snow was definitely slushy, but was still able to get some solid gliding in.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Pincushion again today, all trails except Snowman loops. Much colder snow and drifted tracks made for better grip than yesterday. Coverage still good, with no bare spots or tree debris or stubble. Definitely a polar wax day, I was able to move fast enough to stay warm without sweating, the key in high winds and sub zero temps. Thanks Pincushion groomers.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied all trails except Pincushion loop. All were freshly groomed after the new snow and there were just a few spots where dirt was showing thru. I used my good skis. Spent most of the time out of the track to get better grip, as my green wax should have been blue. Pole plunging on the outside of the track also discouraged me from using them as did many places were they were too squiggly to stay in. But it was great to be on natural snow and a beautiful trail system. I will be back tomorrow!

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
I can only speak to West Overlook and Lower Snowman. They had been groomed since last night's dump. Skate deck a bit narrow at points, some early season pole-plunges and crust-sinking. Otherwise, snow felt awesome. So happy to be out in December!

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Conditions were remarkably good for early season. The Pincushion loop was in great shape and groomed for both classic and skating. Tracks were firm. There were a few easily avoided bare spots due to the wind.
