Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Conditions are between fair and good, leaning towards good. 90%+ is good or better, just a few thin spots under the pines as previous mentioned. Those thins spots are easy to spot, and dance around. Even if you engage deep in the track as I did, the debris you touch is leafy, woody or pine cones. In other words, I never hit a rock or frozen soil. So there you have it. The skiing right now is better than in July.

Nose lake was tracked today.  The results are mixed. The east loop has the most thin spots, especially on the north side of Nose Lake road, and the open areas on the south side. On the west loop, the results are better, with the exception of the stretch under the pines shortly after the trail split.  Probably would be a good idea to leave the good skis at home.

Got back to working on the base today. Yesterday's snow was minimal, 2-3" of fluff. Due to the recent meltdown, the original base got pretty icy and hard. The groomers just laid down corduroy today, no tracks. However, the deck is paper thin, and keep in mind the underlying base is icy. Keep the good skis at home, and use only your B skis.
