Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
I skied all of the easiest and intermediate trails this morning, and it's not good news. Rock skis with blue klister wax was pretty good but I was dodging spots of bare dirt; some of that was on downhills, kind of treacherous. Uffda!

Observation
[ Trails Open: Most ]
I walked the snowshoe trails this morning and checked out the ski trail conditions in several spots that I figured might be too thin (snow cover) to be decent for skiing. Mostly it looked very good, but a couple of areas on Corker and Little James trails (under hemlock trees and on a south-facing small hill) were down to dirt. I would label the other trails as okay to ski (if you find the right time of day, when the snow has softened a bit) but not with your good skis).

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were freshly groomed with the PB100. Close to perfect conditions; some brown snow here and there (mostly just shredded leaves mixed in the snow). Great skiing conditions but it won't last long.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All of the loops were groomed again this morning. Finally have enough base to make great corduroy and deep, firm tracks. Excellent conditions but still slow, dry snow. Skin skis provided good kick, glide was okay.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good conditions on the trails at Forest Springs. I got in about an hour of really good classic skiing, then a snow shower of about a half-inch slowed me down. Trails could use more snow, which came last night! Grooming plans: Adam will groom Saturday morning.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Most of the loops (17k) were groomed with the PB100 this morning and looked beautiful! The snow is, obviously, very cold and dry, so the glide is not great, so striding is better than skating today. I used my good skis and had no problems even though the snow cover is thin in some places. It's gorgeous out there!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I groomed the skate lanes this morning with the Ginzu. The classic tracks were already excellent, but the skate lanes were pretty beat up; now it should be fine for skating, also. It was beautiful but a bit cold out there!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After getting 7" snow, Adam groomed trails with the PB100. Great classic skiing conditions; not fast but solid tracks and very few thin spots. It was too soft for good skating; I could see skate skis were sinking in (better on the south trails, which were groomed last night).

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
I skated today because the Pisten Bully groom from Tuesday was beautiful but kinda icy (and no classic tracks). Then I discovered that Adam groomed Skidder and Jammer this morning- the snow cover is thin but really good for skating. The corduroy looks perfect but it's thin, so B skis would be best. Those two trails ( 4km) have some big hills; could be a good Birkie workout.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Most of the loops were groomed with the PB100 Tuesday morning. No classic tracks yet but the corduroy is firm and solid. I was striding, so tracks would have been nice but there would have been leaves and dirt exposed in the tracks. Just needs a little more snow.
