DNR groomer had set tracks on Boomer Blue yesterday since the fresh snow and they had set up nicely. I turned off onto the tracks on Loop 2 to enjoy the rolling hills and twisty turns, but was disappointed to find long sections without tracks. At first I thought it might be an area where the snow was too thin, but as I continued on, I found more long stretches usually down and up a hill without tracks. Those trails are so much fun in the tracks both down and uphill except for a few steep hills where herringbone is needed. I contacted the DNR requesting that the groomer leave the tracksetter down throughout the system. Hoping that conditions improve.

Did Boomer Blue. 2-3 inches of fluffy snow didn't hide the track entirely. Looked like I was the second person to ski and all the tracks are cut in. Ice/leaf litter contact was minimal (a few spots are minimal base). It is very pretty. It appeared that nobody had skied the connecting Cowhorn trails yet.

Post on DNR website indicates trails were groomed today and conditions reported as fair. 2" base.

Skied loops 2 and 3, all trails have yet to be groomed. Base is frozen wet snow topped with a bit of fluff, feels a bit crusty but the frozen base prevents bottoming out and scraping up ski bottoms. Lots of boot tracks on parts of loop 2. Not great skiing, but better than not skiing.
