Notes

Easy trails for beginners by the East Chalet that run through a stand of white pines and steeper and longer trails that go down Hill #6, around the 60m ski jump and up to the top of Hill #2. Blackhawk trails also connect with longer trails on Pleasant View Golf Course. Some snowmaking operations, and lit trails.

Trail Reports

2023-2024 season
Reports 2 to 6 of 6    Month: Feb | Dec
Friday, December 29, 2023
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
There's no classic tracks. Also direction of travel has gone out the window. Unless I'm mistaken it's Keep Left. Otherwise there's a crossover at the hairpin and around the shed. Hill 4 was icy and not fun to climb. Hills 2-1-0 along the perimeter was a better climb. I used metal edges and the downhill was great. It's still soft enough to get down easy on skate or touring skis too.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Groomed today with good conditions on their snowmaking loop for skating (1K loop so far). No classic track set. Snow added to the east end allowing a wider turnaround at the base of Hill 5. Hill 2 open for climbing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Really good conditions considering the weather we've recently had. A little ice around the biathlon building. And a few small patches of dirty snow at the base of the hill. Otherwise great with around an inch of corn kernel snow to hold an edge well.

Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Loop of about 1km or nearly so. Centered around the Biathlon building, it covers the flat base area back and forth with a spurt uphill on both ends. Classic tracks provided the whole way, everywhere you want them. Not set very deep but fine, also the skate deck was easy to navigate on classic skis. Used beater skis but no reason not to use good skis, deep snow coverage nearly everywhere and very clean of debris.
