Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Nice spring type ski conditions. Soft snow with minimal ice. Tracks were laid and were definitely skiable. Not too many folks out. I guess this is our lot in southern Wisconsin ... 50 degrees in January. Ski when you can and where you can is the new mantra.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Lots of folks out today with the blue sky and no wind and 30 degree temps. Snow was tough for the classical skiers. No tracks left after the warming we have had. So us classical folks slid around a bunch in a lot of places, but in some places it was ok. Skate skiers were having a better time with the conditions. Still, it is snow, and there is a whole lotta brown out there without snow.

Those little dustings of snow added up to almost an inch of snow in places and that softened the skiing up. It was a nice day skiing with nice grooming and nice dusting. Good amount of folks skiing today on this winter warming we had today :-).

In my opinion, the best snow around within an hours drive from Madison. Tons of man made base and firm skate deck on the Siberian highway loop and perfect grooming for classic with nice deep tracks.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Blackhawk groomed the trails and the snow was pretty good. The skaters were flying around while the classical skiers were gliding on icy track in most of the trails with some tracks being softer than other areas. Good to get out even though it was quite brisk in the windy areas. Man we could sure use some soft natural snow.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skied this afternoon. Pretty nice, not really icy. No tracks laid but classic folks have laid down their own tracks. Definitely could use a refresh of snow ... whenever that will be.

It was nice to get out on a partly sunny day. I classic skied and it was pretty nice. There were no tracks set so it was a bit slippery in places. I had metal edges on which helped. Snow was nicely groomed and the skaters were having fun it looked like. Hopefully we will get some of mother natures snow and tracks can be laid.

Well it was variable conditions today. Where the sun was the snow was pretty soft and sweet. Where the shade was, which was most areas, it was pretty icy. I am a Blackhawk newbie so don't know much of the area but it looks like it will hold snow as lots of it is on north side of hills. It was fun skiing in 50 degree weather but it could be way more fun skiing on a bunch of new snow.
