Trail Detail
Notes
These classic single-tracked trails are set in the remote boreal forest of Isabella on Superior National Forest. The trails wind along lakeshores and through spruce/tamarack bogs and old pine, fir, aspen, and birch forests. Skiers can experience a wilderness character on mostly beginner to intermediate loops. Trailhead located at Flathorn Picnic area.Trail Reports

Conditions: Groomed while skiing today.
Much of the system still closed due to downed trees from the recent snowfall. What was open was beautiful.

Conditions: Packed snow depth varies from 3-7 inches depending on tree cover. About 17" has fallen in the past 2 weeks. Track has been set on limited trails where possible. See map of current trail status.
More snow for the New Year! Packed snow depth varies from 3-7 inches depending on tree cover. Packing is going slow due to heavy snow bending trees and brush over the trails. We had 60% of the trails cleared and packed last Wednesday but additional heavy snow that evening set us way back again.

Merry Christmas and Hoppy Hilidays! Packed snow depth varies from 3-6 inches depending on tree cover. A few bigger rock poking out here and there. Packing is going slow due to heavy snow bending trees and brush over the trails. About 60% of trails are cleared and packed as of Wednesday. More snow Wednesday night may have pushed some more brush low on trails. No track set yet. Expect to set open trails on Monday.

Conditions: Packed depth 2-6 inches depending on trail tree cover. Rock skis would be wise. Main stretch and trails to the east of it are packed and passable, including Flathorn Lake loop. Snow weighted brush still being cleared on most western trails.
Packing is going slow due to heavy snow bending trees and brush over the trails. Tracking will have to wait until we get a few more inches. Unfortunately, not much in the forecast right now. 8-12 inches in woods.
