Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
I skied a few loops of the North trail through Scenic Foothills late morning. Rock ski conditions on the natural snow trails with a fair amount of grass poking through and lots of leaves/twigs with bare spots in the oak woods before connecting to the snowmaking loops. Snowmaking loops in excellent shape as usual and good skis can be used.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The snowmaking loop remains entirely open and in very good condition. It was 31 degrees per the Swix wax clock with a light overcast. Despite my guess that the warner temperatures brought out more skiers today, there was little sugar accumulation. And the warmer temperatures made the snow noticeably faster than yesterday, No snowplow wake on Boulder Ridge downhill. At 4:00 start skier traffic was light. Thanks groomers.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The entire snowmaking loop was open and in very good condition. It was about 18 degrees and overcast. Despite it being just about dusk when I started and well past the heavier skier-traffic of the day, there was no appreciable sugar accumulation but the snow was squeaky cold and slow for me. There were few skiers on the trail at my 4:30 pm start despite the front parking lot being full. Thanks to the groomers for great conditions.

Skied Lake for the serenity and beauty. Never had to pop out and walk, but it's woodchippy and leaf debris most of the way. Loved it for what I wanted and won't go back again until our next snow. Machine snow trails are great.

Only reporting on the man made loop. Absolutely perfect snow conditions this morning. Tracks were firm and the skate deck combed nicely. Negative 13F by the chalet. I think it was ten degrees warmer in the woods.

Soft but great scene out there today. Skied 31k and had a blast! Lake loop open but not a lot of coverage. Nice to be in the woods though.

Skate skied all the manmade loops. Lake trail is pretty rough with a lot of debris and mulch in the snow. Rock ski conditions. The nature center trail is pretty good and B skis would be fine. Loose and easy to break through, but great to out in the woods.

All of the natural snow trails (Lake, Hill, Nature Center loops) are in remarkably good shape this morning for the first natural snowfall of the season! Bring skis that you don't mind dinging up, however, because the uphills are a bit chewed up and there is exposed ground and sticks and other forest debris. But 90% of the natural snow trails are in really great shape!

Slow but fun skate ski after the fresh snow. Lake loop was rolled in the morning. Pretty loose but manageable. Just don't use your best skis on natural trails.

First, I tried skating in the new snow on the full snow-making loop including Boulder Ridge. Whew, new snow hadn't been packed/groomed so lotta work! The HS races started so I ventured out onto Lakeview natural snow loop and it actually was skiable with B skis. I was able to avoid any thin or bad spots and it was beautiful and serene out there! It was thinner up in the last stretch thru the picnic area and the last climb up to the chalet. Only a few brave souls had skated or classiced the natural trails, and some had tried the Hill and Oak Knob Trails as well. On the snow-making loop, classic skiing looked a lot better!
