Skated the Lake Trail and conditions were great! Few oak leaves and bare spots but not many. Snow hard packed and fast. Only part of the loop has classic tracks.

Whelp no classic tracks on the natural trails; maybe there just isn't enough snow to set. Some thin spots on the hills of the hill trail that were all easily avoided. Great condition on the man made track.

Skied all loops this morning. Natural is 100% covered. Good skis ok. No track set. Night shift groomers did a great job of packing and grooming new wind blown snow. Nice to see all the skiers out on a chilly day. Check out the WCCO YouTube video taken at Hyland yesterday.

I'm listing it as all trails open but there are no classic tracks on the natural snow trails. The man made loop tracks are perfect and the skate deck firm. Strided on a couple of the natural trails and found them soft but plenty of snow.

Skied the man-made trails only early morning. Snow falling while I skied from 1-2 inches by time I finished. Shout out to the crew at Hyland for great grooming. Snow made it much slower skiing than Thursday morning, but love the snow. Hope the natural snow trails get better for skating after this snow fall!

Our manufactured 5k is packed, tracked and in good conditions. Natural snow trails are packed and in poor conditions. Ski race today from 3-5:30pm.

Manmade trails are all in primo shape as usual, plenty fast with the warmup. Natural trails are very sparse, prepare for abrupt stops and possible damage. Grass poking through on Oak and North, and Lake was an unavoidable maze of wood chips before I bailed onto Oak. Fingers crossed for more snow for us. Stick to the manmade in the meantime.

I stuck to the man made loops and stayed at the north end of the trail to avoid the racers. Tracks were well set and firm. Boulder Ridge was very manageable. Skate deck looked perfect. Lots of snow, no worries about warm days.

Only strided manufactured snow trails. Classic tracks very good with nice softness, no ice noticed in tracks. Tracks very well used. Skate deck very hard and icy. I would have a hard time getting solid edge due to hardness. Beautiful day to be xc skiing at Hyland Lake. Lots of HS skiers were arriving and getting ready for a meet as I was leaving. Good to see youth embracing the silent sport of nordic skiing!

Natural Snow Report: Not as advertised (“good”) but still fun. Picture is typical of Lake Trail, which was the worst of it. Hill was mostly great. North was decent. Nature Center Spur was better than Lake.
