Good skiing on artificial snow. Natural looks sketchy. Classic tracks beginning to get discolored. Even though temperatures were in the fifties the snow was a little icy.

I had a full 4pm ski at Hyland as temps went from mid 30s to high 30s. The outer non-snowmaking loops range from good-ski to rock-ski conditions as the warmth has thinned out the base and left exposed spots. The 1.8k snowmaking loop is fully snowed, but has hardened with the warmth and refreeze.

Conditions for skate skiing on Lake Trail (natural snow) was pretty good. Some leaves and bark, and a few spots with grass showing or a little dirt on top. Well packed. A little uneven in places. No set tracks for classic. Conditions skate skiing on Hill Trail (natural snow) was very good. Few leaves, and a few spots with grass showing or a little dirt on top. Well packed. A little uneven in places. No set tracks for classic. Conditions on manufactured snow loop was excellent for both skate and classic. Pristine! Only about a third of the snowmaking trails are open so far.

Skied everything that was groomed. The natural snow loops (Lake, Hill, Oak Knoll, North, and Nature Center) were all good for early season, natural snow. They are groomed for skate only, and there are the typical early-season humps and bumps but they were still great fun! Thanks to the Hyland groomers for putting in the time and effort to groom in the natural snow. Packing the snow in from this storm should help the snow weather the short-daylight warm days this week, and will hopefully make for a good base for future snow. The manmade loops were perfect as expected.

11am. The snowmaking loop is well-packed with a fast firm deck and well set tracks. Lake trail (natural snow) was not tracked, and not many user tracks. Husband says the skate deck was lumpy/bumpy but ok. Only a couple of thin spots. Sadly, a biker carved one deep rut along much of the trail, but it's easily avoided. Overall, a good day.

A great day on the non-snowmaking Hyland trails: Lake, Hill, Oak Nob, and North. Conditions were a bit soft and bumpy, but very skiiable and uncrowded. Oak Nob and North are good skis, but Lake was mixed, and Hill clearly B ski conditions. For now, it's a fine ski.

Kudos to the groomers at Hyland! Skate skied the 1.8 K manmade loop early morning Saturday and Sunday. The snow was perfectly groomed both days with a well laid single track for classic, amazing considering the snow continued till about 3AM Saturday. As anticipated, the deck was much firmer today and conditions were like mid January with temps in the 20s! Looking forward to more of the loop being opened.

Lots of folk there this morning! The only natural snow trails groomed were Lake and Hill. Hill had a number of bare spots, most notably at bottom of big downhill: use care. No tracks set on these trails. About 2k Man made trailed open: fence and silent snow guns blocked entry to Frogtown.
