The Hyland 5K man-made loop is holding up great! Very clean snow overall, and still pretty fast for skating from noon to 2pm at 39 degrees. Classic tracks are also holding up nicely. I spoke to the Hyland crew today and they plan to keep grooming as long as overnight temps are below freezing.

I skied the man-made snow trails and they were better than expected. I had both kick and glide (thanks to skin skis). The snow was soft and the tracks were a mix of soft and slightly icy. I saw some skate skiers perfecting their slow-mo skiing. It was nice to be out and not as slow as it could have been.

I skate skied all of the machine-made snow and natural trails this morning at Hyland. Conditions were fantastic considering the warmer days and longer sunlight hours. The skate deck was lightning fast, but still able to get an edge, and the classic tracks while a little icy were holding up nicely. Kudos to the Three Rivers groomers -- great conditions and really a delight to ski at Hyland this late into the season!

Went out at 3 pm - 36 degrees and sunny - thinking it might not be good and it was great! Did the man-made loop. The tracks were soft in many places but definitely skiable throughout. I expected to have trouble with my wax but surprisingly hit it just right using Rex Grip Tape in the pocket with extensions on both ends using Rex Universal Gold liquid klister. Many, many thanks to the groomers! This would not be possible without your excellent work. You are the artists of the grooming world!

Man made snow skate deck was perfect. Firm, fast and not icy. Tracks were rock hard and fast. North trail was a mess of ice. I don't recommend the natural trails.

Manmade snow was boilerplate with perfect frozen tracks and skate deck with no ice. Natural was the same with added long sections of sheets of glare ice with perfect tracks. I had such a good time there yesterday I convinced myself they had worked magic overnight even with the rain as TRPD reported good conditions for both natural and manmade. It was probably good before the temp dropped below freezing after grooming was done, as evidenced by the frozen skate grooves. After initially thinking of turning back after seeing all the ice on North at the shuttle parking lot, I stuck with it hoping things would be better on the manmade snow but it was boilerplate everywhere, although at least no ice on the manmade. Once I got used to the light touch required it was actually pretty fun and very fast. I ended up doing 5 laps of snowmaking and with a good tuck was able to use all of the downhill tracks except Boulder Ridge (which I avoided and saw no one else on) and coming back on Scenic Foothills. Lake was a complete sheet of ice at the start (I used the snow on the side to get down to the lake) and Oak Knob wasn't too back but had lots of icy sections. North was the only natural trail without much ice.

The snowmaking loop was in excellent condition mid morning on Tuesday. No problem getting bite but no sugar accumulation to slow you down. No snowplow wake even on Boulder. It was 34 degrees at my start and 37 when I checked driving home. Thanks Three Rivers and groomers for providing such great conditions.

It was another great outing at Hyland this morning. I classic skied the snowmaking trails, and they were in really nice shape for both classic and skate.
Thanks to the Hyland groomers for keeping it going this Spring!

Fast conditions and a significant improvement over the hard icy surface present on Friday. A few glazed/icy spots in the tracks and as expected due to the wind, a fair amount of leaf debris in the usual places. Skate deck was generally in great condition as well with isolated bumpy/rutted areas as the refreeze set up with falling temperatures. Thanks to the groomers at Hyland for their continued outstanding work! Get out and enjoy the end of the season while it lasts.

Skied classic at 11am and had a blast on this sunny Sunday! Tracks were icy fast and had decent depth. I was using fish scales with no wax. Groomers doing an excellent job as always.
