Classic skied the full snowmaking loop and the Lake/natural snow trail. Fantastic glide! Very firm snow. Excellent tracks everywhere. Boulder Ridge downhill was fast but manageable. Skin skis had surprisingly good kick in the tracks. When I stayed in the tracks on the downhills, I was going so fast on the steeper downhills that I had to squat almost onto the skis to keep from being flung out of the tracks on the turns! Very fun! The park seemed almost deserted.

Skated all man-made and natural trails at 11am. As expected, they're a bit soft/slow/sticky. Still great to get out in the warm weather though!

Skate skied all of the trails at Hyland, snowmaking and natural snow, and all were in fantastic shape! The rain yesterday caused no noticeable damage. No ice anywhere. No debris on the trails anywhere. Classic tracks appeared deeply set everywhere. By 1:15 PM a few small areas that were in direct sun with no breeze had started to soften up just a bit. But 95% of the state deck was still very firm, and cloud cover was increasing.

With temps in the mid-30s, the snow was soft with a few mushy spots. But the tracks on Lake and Hill trails were very good, deep and holding shape. There were a few short stretches of choppy ice/snow, and some variable wet/hard areas, but overall conditions were excellent for this kind of weather.

Went out today with my old Atomic "zero" skis after the rain stopped. With temps a bit over 32 degrees, in wet conditions, they generally work well. Today was no exception. What was surprising was how good the grooming was, not just on the man-made snow section but also the outer trails. Nice, deep track and flat corduroy on the skate deck. I wondered if they weren't using the Piston Bulley on the outer trails as well as the man-made sections, rather than the snow mobile groomers. Glide was was Swix LF 10 and I used a riling tool to decrease suction.

Excellent ski conditions on both the man-made and natural loops. As expected, the skate deck was slightly soft and slower than usual, but did not detract from a beautiful day. Fewer people on the trails than usual... Likely related to this being Birkie weekend (?).

Divine day on all trails at Hyland. All 15k tracked, groomed and perfect. Cold temps made for slower and shorter glides. Bring your race ski kit. Perfect for beginners.
