Perfect conditions at Wirth late afternoon today. Both parking lots by the trailhead were full at 3:30 pm, but I eventually got a spot. It looks like La Squadra will be opening soon so the big lot by the chalet will have access to the trail. It was so much fun to have the addition of Ridgeline open today with the great hills. Awesome ski today with the side benefit of a beautiful sunset!

Skied the natural snow trails this morning. It's amazing that it was mostly good coverage. The biggest risk occurred when skiing over paved bike paths with any bit of grade. I had to really focus on a flat ski to keep from scraping the pavement—at least those sections were far and few between. I'd definitely go out again, but don't bring your nice skis.

Nothing groomed today with the snowfall, so it was slow going but still pleasant to be out. With this volume of snow, skate was definitely the preferred technique; makeshift tracks were on and off. Lots of grooming action on La Squadra.

Overall in decent shape considering the recent weather. Uphills mostly felt like a sheet of ice under a couple inches of sand unfortunately. Classic tracks looked to be in pretty solid condition and saw several people out in them. Snowmaking ongoing on the tubing hill and La Squadra. Nice to be back at Wirth.

I skied in the afternoon with the skate deck fairly firm with a few spots that have a couple inches of mashed potatoes. Tracks look good as well. 3K is currently open with ample snow on parts of the trail that hopefully will be groomed in the near future. Overall very good conditions.

Skied classic from 8 - 9:15 am. Tracks were in great condition - fast but not icy. Snow machines were making snow at the bottom of the tubing hill. Some snow drifted into the tracks on the uphill of Jim's Hill making them a bit sticky. The downhill was slow - yippee! It was cold but not windy. Fewer than 20 skiers, both classic and skate. Pictures of tubing hill and Jim's Hill.

Skied classic from 10 - 11:30 am. Tracks had snow in them in some spots - especially in the lower stadium - and were shallow in some spots. Totally skiable and good practice but may be a challenge for beginners. The downhills were slower which is good in my book! Snow guns were blowing on the tubing hill. It was windy especially near the roundabout but nice in the woods. There were few skiers - maybe 5 classic skiers. Great day to ski! Pictures of Lower Stadium, Green Meadow and Jim's Hill.

Of course, there's no question that conditions are very good or excellent on what is open of it--now 2.5 K with the addition of Green Meadow. Well, there were a few icy spots where today's skiers scraped the loose snow off the surface, but these were easily avoidable once one knew to be on the lookout for them. The place was a carnival with high schoolers when I arrived at 4:30, but by 6 pm had turned to serenity. The dark side of Green Meadow was not too dark to ski without a headlamp, thanks to the waxing moon and cloud cover.

Skied classic from 10 - 11am. Conditions were fast but not icy - I was able to stay in tracks on uphills with fish scales. Tracks were broken down in some spots, also debris in some areas. The downhills were too fast for my liking so I stayed on Green Meadow and the small hills on Jim's Hill. It wasn't crowded at all. It was a really nice day for skiing!
