The man made loop is holding up well. A good base with excellent classic tracks and a smooth surface for skating. Some dirt and debris as expected on some climbs and surface is corn snow on the inclines but the trail is wide and still deep with manufactured snow and all of the extended loop remains in good condition for A skis. The snow cannons were blowing snow all afternoon into the evening and the Wirth crews are working hard to polish an already very good trail. Grateful for the continued skillful efforts.

I skied in the early afternoon. The skate deck was wet corn, dirty in places, but actually pretty good skiing: fast gliding and easy to edge. I used the classic tracks on the fast downhills and what a hoot. The tracks were firm, icy, slightly wet, ungodly fast, and so much fun that I ended up doing laps on la squadra just for the sheer joy of it.

We are starting up the snowmaking again tonight after a few days off. We will be making snow on the south side of lower stadium, Twin Lake trail, tubing hill and snowboard hills.
Please access all trails through the lower stadium in front of the Trailhead building which has snow pushed right up to the edge of the sidewalk so that there is no opportunity for tracking mud onto the trail. With the high number of skiers and races this week along with the warm temps we have had some mud tracking and developing dirty snow in the Trail 18 and upper stadium areas. We plan to push this dirty snow off the trail and make more snow on these areas after we have our full 6.5k loop open.

I skied the snowmaking loop at about 1 pm. It was in pretty good shape considering the weather, but open areas were freezing up and getting icy and slippery, while other areas were still warm and soft.

Posting another update after my 5:00 AM ski this morning. Definitely different than it was 24 hours ago. Looking sad and droopy out there. Still overall good, but showing the wear from the temps. I imagine with the fresh grooming it's a bit better, but as others are noting there are some dirty spots and in some places the tracks had some substantial debris. Still, the majority of the course was fine. Much harder to kick up the hills for me today, and the down hill tracks are very fast. I'd use B skis if I had them (perhaps my "good skis" will become my B skis).

Good news - about 4K of the manmade loop is open, including part of the back 40 (aka the Green Meadow loop) and the sliding hill (La Squadra), so skiers are more spaced out. Bad news - Trail 18 (aka machine shed loop - the loop that was opened first) is getting really dirty, especially the last 100 feet approaching the upper stadium. To the point that I will not ski on the area with good skis.

A little dirt on the trail, maybe a bit more in the classic tracks. Still a good 2-3ft ribbon of snow. Skied at 9pm on Wednesday and couldn't find any ice. Overall better conditions than I thought given the weeks warmup.

With the recent warmup, I'd dial back the rating of Wirth's invaluable 4k loop to B-ski conditions. It's mostly solid, but a handful of dirty, soft, and/or thin sections gives pause. It's still a great ski -- but if you've got B skis, it might be worth going with them.

Had a very quiet and peaceful 5:00 AM ski this morning. Grooming for classical was perfect and so much fun. For the most part the trail was in fantastic shape, just a few icy patches (trail 18, the curve heading into the hill behind the Trailhead was a bit icy, and the upper stadium heading toward the ridgeline trail). Parts were a bit soft. I was able to kick up the steepest hills no problem (which is not always the case), and it was pretty fast (one of my fastest times so far this year).

The full ~4k snowmaking loop has been Pistenbully groomed including a portion of the lower stadium. Much of the course continues to stay in excellent shape. With warm temps we have lost more snow on south facing slopes and a couple other areas of the course, leaving classic tracks in those areas partially formed and/or potentially icy (depending on the low temp achieved last night). Please use caution in these areas. Once temps cool again and we receive some fresh snow trail conditions will return to excellent. Enjoy!
