GearWest Junior BIRKIE is a GO

It is true, Mother Nature has thrown a major curve to Northern Wisconsin, but in its 17 year history, the Junior Birkie has NEVER been cancelled; therefore, the 2017 GearWest Junior Birkie and the CXC Youth Cup will go forward as scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday February 23, 2017.

The GearWest Junior Birkie will return to its original roots and host venue: Fish Hatchery Park on Highway 77, located one mile north of Hayward.

Did you know that the very first Junior Birkie was held at Fish Hatchery Park -- and it was raining on that day too!

The distances and format will be changed to trail running event, with a few obstacles along the way; the times and distances will be about the same as scheduled; and, some type of Sprint Relay will follow the main event. Yes, the GearWest Junior Birkie age group awards, and the CXC Youth Cup awards will presented accordingly; although, CXC Youth Cup Points will not be calculated toward the series.
