Skinnyski.com High School Rankings - Round 1

December 19, 2017

Commentary

The first JNQ races are in the books, and high school meets are just firing up. With very sparse data to work with, we take a crack at this first round of in-season rankings.

For the boys, we’ve got three big movers this round. Ben Olson, Blaine and Alex Nemeth, St. Cloud Cathedral-Sartell, climb off the bench and into the game with good results up in Houghton. Gus Schatzien, Prior Lake, appears with a bullet on the cusp list. Luc Golin and Anders Sonnesyn, both of Wayzata, still look very good at the top positions.

In the girls rankings, Sarah Olson, Blaine, and Triana Willmert, Edina, both earn spots in the top 10 with solid results at the JNQ. Top ranked Mara McCollor, Wayzata, looked very good last weekend but Kelly Koch, Burnsville, is already pressing for that top position as well.

Team rankings get a little less attention, but we still made some changes there. Forest Lake boys drop a little, with Stillwater rising. No major changes for the girls teams.

Races are firing up around the state, so coaches get those results sent in.  Next round of rankings should come the first week of January.

Note: For those teams looking to get in some racing action, especially on natural snow, the Spooner Holiday Dash coming up on Dec 29th (open to Minnesota teams).
