Nordic Jamboree -- January 21st, 2008

Format:

 

Bring your team to one of the most exciting Nordic events around.  We’ll start the morning with a qualification round to determine the sprint heats.  We’ll then move into the first continuous pursuit race of the day (5 km cl and 5 km sk) followed buy the first round of sprint heats.  The second continuous pursuit race will follow and then the semi-finals for the sprints.  We’ll finish the day with the two relay races, sprint consolation round and sprint finals.  It will be a great day of racing and a great spectator friendly event.  Start a new yearly tradition!  Sign up early, only 20 boys teams and 20 girls teams allowed, space is filling fast!

 

Location:       Eagle Lake (3RP) reserved, working on Theodore Wirth (for the guaranteed snow)

 

Time:            10:00am - 4:00pm (subject to change with a change in venue)

 

Scoring:         Sprints: 2 per school

                      Relay: 1 per school

                      Pursuit: 2 per school

 

Awards:        Medals for top 6 sprinters, top 6 pursuiters and top 3 relays.  Trophies to top three teams.

 

Team make-up:

 

·                Each team can enter up to 3 skiers in the continuous pursuit, which is 5km classic immediately followed by 5km freestyle.  These skiers may not participate in any other races.  Two are scored for team points.  The third may “push.”

·                Each team enters up to 4 skiers in the sprint qualifying.  These skiers may participate in the relay, as well.  The top two are scored from each team.  The other two may “push.”

·                Each team enters one relay team of four skiers. The first two ski 2.5km classic.  The last two ski 2.5km freestyle.

·                Total skiers per team may range from 6 to 11 skiers.  If all the relay skiers double-up in the sprints, and you ski only 2 pursuiters 6 are needed.  3 pursuiters, 4 spinters and 4 relay skiers would make up the maximum size team of 11 skiers.  Max distance any skier can ski is 10K.

 

Cost:             $100 per team, $200 for both boy’s and girl’s teams
