Friends of Lester Park

Dear Friends of Lester Park,

Are you interested in discussing the future of Lester Park and the Lester River Sports Chalet, and investing in infrastructure that facilitates year-round access to Lester Park? We are reaching out to you with the hope that you may have an interest in the Lester Sports Chalet building for this purpose, or simply have an interest in providing an indoor facility of some capacity in Lester Park. We also want to alert you of the City of Duluth's plans for demolishing the Lester Sports Chalet in the absence of a takeover by an interested managing party. We hope to begin a community-wide discussion about the development of an Eastern Duluth trails hub in Lester Park.

 
Gary Larson, Dave Johnson and I would like to invite you to attend a planning meeting at Sara's Table Sunday, December 15th, at 3:00p.m. Please RSVP to me ([email protected]) or Dave ([email protected]) if you plan on attending. We will use our time together to share photos and information, and discuss current ideas and interests in this project. We hope to develop a proposal to the City Parks Department which would improve accessibility to the awesome new COGGS mountain bike trails and the long-loved nordic ski trails in Lester with a warm, comfortable space for park users.
