Excellent - perfect mid-season corduroy skate deck throughout the big 19 mile loop! Doesn't get any better. Thanks for the great grooming!

Conditions: Very good classic track on Onion River trail and over to Homestead loop.
Skied the Onion loop and went over to Homestead Loop and back (L to J) and was surprised to find that trail nicely groomed skate and classic. Around 23 degrees. Couple feet of snow.

Conditions: Amazing April skiing on the Norwegian riviera!
It almost seemed like a April fools joke but the day started out at -11 F but warmed up into the mid 20's under cobalt blue skies. All of the trails were freshly groomed today after quite a bit of new snow and cold temps this week. There are a few thin spots but most of the trail has a surprisingly deep packed base of up to a foot of snow in places. I brought my no wax skis however you could have used blue wax today. These trails are probably the best in the Midwest and make for wonderful spring skiing. The grooming is incredible and should be supported with our donations so they can keep it up.

Onion River Road groomed to the end for skating and double tracked for classic. Excellent conditions - sunshine, moderate temperature, good snow. Some additional grooming also for the short loop back to the parking lot. Sugarbush had skiers from Duluth and Thunder Bay today - getting busy there.

Sugarbush got about 4+ inches yesterday and has been groomed for skate from the Onion River trailhead to the 2K marker. From 1 PM to 3 PM it was soft but very skiable and the glide is good - the snow had a good deal of water in it and it's packing down nicely and should get still better with cold nights and more grooming. This is a real treat after a winter of so much man-made snow.

Excellent grooming of the skate deck and nicely cut classic tracks. A great day to play hooky from work - sunny, calm, temperature in the mid-20s.

Conditions: 3" of fresh powder on top of solid base. Freshly groomed.
We received about 3" of fresh powder yesterday and the groomer got right on it. Liz and I skied today on the Onion River Road portion of the trail and found a freshly groomed skate lane and new set tracks. The trail was groomed late yesterday, so I'm guessing that this morning the conditions were perfect. We skied this afternoon when the sun had softened the snow a bit. Both of us used our classical skin skis and had a great time. Skate lane was a little soft yet from the fresh snow and the tracks varied from packed powder to a little icy. Timing is everything. Overall great conditions for this time of the year.

Skating was surprisingly good on Onion River Road, even with about 1-2 inches of fluffy ungroomed snow when I finished at noon. Classic skiers had skied in two nice tracks. Not the day for a stiff ski but other than that quite enjoyable - none of that death march feeling.

Conditions: Very good. Started sunny at 21 degrees; ended partly sunny and 34 degrees when I concluded 15 miles and 3 1/2 hours later. Only one bare spot, full coverage otherwise. No ice. Used red Fastwax LF.
Drove up Thursday evening to get in one last ski before returning home to the cities late Friday afternoon. Only 2 other cars in the Onion River parking lot when I arrived at 9:30. Lots when I left about 1:20. Trail over to Homestead loop was frozen corduroy with some needle litter in the densest pine groves. As things opened up, trail softened. Met three parties on Picnic Loop including two 40/50's guys who just flew. I, on the other hand, really plodded, herringboning most uphills. I was exhausted by the time I got to to N so it was nice to conclude on the downhill from N to X and then most of Onion River Road, which was freshly groomed. Its a real gift to have such a nicely maintained trail in this beautiful location. Kudos to the groomers and everybody who supports them and trail.

Conditions were quite good for late March. A little icy out of the parking lot but I ended up skiing the Picnic loop which had had almost perfect conditions. I really appreciated the good grooming late in the season.
