Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 1 to 9 of 9    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan
Sunday, April 15, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Incredible backcountry ski conditions. Skied every trail in the park at least once including hiking trails most of which were untouched by humans. Plenty of snow on 90% of the trails. Some open areas were windblown but had at least an icy covering over grass so no chance of ski damage.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails are open, but still snow covered from yesterday's storm. About 4-5 inches of new snow. The snow is too wet for the snowmobile groomer, so crews will be bringing over the PistenBully groomer tomorrow, likely in the afternoon, to groom.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good to fair conditions due to melting. Went over lunch so trail was a mix of medium speed and slow depending on the amount of sun that hit the trail. Some bare spots here and there with grass showing but no rocks.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed with tracks set. Conditions are good. These trails connect with the nextdoor Lone Rock Trail system (an additional 10 miles of trail groomed for skiing). At the time of this update, Lone Rock has not yet been groomed.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails are packed (rolled, no tracks set) and are in fair condition around Empire Lake and in poor condition almost everywhere else (open areas are very icy). Last packed on Monday. There's not much more we can do without an additional 4-6 inches of snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomers finished up Whitetail Woods Regional Park Tuesday afternoon. Conditions are good to excellent with a few bare patches in the open prairie areas. This classic ski trail system hooks up with the adjacent Lone Rock Trail in UMORE Park (and the Lone Rock Trail will be groomed Wednesday).

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Groomer reported trails are in poor condition. The wooded sections are holding up a little better than the open areas; however, the number of bare spots are increasing due to the warmer temps. We will wait to groom until we receive additional snow.
