Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Firm, fast, fresh grooming! The loop has been shortened to about 1.8K, but conditions were better than I expected! Lots of dirty places, but it's the end of the season so I can't complain. Thanks Hyland crew!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Trail holding up surprisingly well with overnight grooming creating rolled corduroy and solid track at 5 am.
Trails reduced now to 1.3 K. Iceberg-like walls of snow block off the rest of the system. Thanks to the Three Rivers Park District groomers and staff who created great conditions during an El NiƱo winter.

I skied early this morning. Still one to three feet of snow on the trail. Fast, but not particularly icy. Very dirty in places.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: very good coverage with snow slick and consistent with a good skate deck and visible rails for classic.
Surprisingly smooth and packed at noon with very few skiers about. The trail was in very good shape, without too much snow kicked up making it easy to ski over the corn snow. Good coverage overall as you ski on a deck that rises a good foot above the bare terrain surrounding the loop. Fantastic job of maintaining the trail by the groomers.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: still full coverage, but showing some wear.
The course has gotten progressively softer throughout the week. Still good overall, but some mush starting to build up on the hills, and there are frequent stretches where dirt or debris are prominent. Who can complain, though? It's great to be skiing in March.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good, but a little icy.
My skis were scraping hard, crusty snow through the thin layer of sugar on the steeper uphills. Most of the downhills were a little icy with some ruts, but still very manageable. The flats and gradual uphills were great. Overall, the snow was very fast.
