Trail Reports

2016-2017 season
Reports 17 to 22 of 22    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
After the Christmas sleet/snow storm a thick crust formed on the ski trail. Since Monday about a half inch of snow has fallen on the trail. I just skated for about an hour and a half on the trail and I would rate the skate conditions 'good'. The trail is now firm with some twigs and debris in the snow from the high winds. Control is not a problem and I skated down Little Joe to see how that would go.
There are no classic tracks. The storm covered them. More snow and regrooming will be needed to put back the tracks.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trail has not been groomed since the Christmas Day ice storm. There is a hard crust over about 3.5" of base. The wind also brought down a good number of small branches and sticks. The larger trees that fell on the trail have been cleared. Grooming will resume with the next snowfall or as soon as the crust softens enough to allow.

We skied the extended only classic trail. It was in beautiful shape and we did our good skis no harm but coverage was thin - would not suggest your best skis here until there is more snow. It was a great ski and we had the trail to ourselves - either due the cold (-2F) or maybe a football game!

All trails tracked and skate decks groomed on Saturday. There are still areas where tracks are shallow with bare ground exposed and a few areas where vegetation is exposed on skate deck.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trail was rolled on Monday the 12th and is in fair condition with varying quality. We have about 5 inches on the ground and about 1.5" of base. Grass and stubble is still poking through in quite a few spots but any rocks should be covered. We should be able to set tracks after our next snowfall.

Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
Afterhours Trail has received a couple inches of fresh powder snow the last few days. State Forest staff is out packing the trail to freeze down wet areas, so hopefully with additional snow we will be ready to ski soon!
