Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very impressed - fast and a big hill.
Woohoo! First trail report of the spring ...... Winter. I decided to check out the Telemark trail that CXC made and I was very impressed. It was groomed and with the cool night, very fast and hard packed. I was out there around noon when it was in the low 49s and the trail wasn't soft by any means. There is a heck of a hill on the back side so it was very painful to get up that thing! All in all, it is around a 1.5ish km trail. No rock skis needed, there were just a few brown spots but they weren't on the trail. Just a note of caution: there isn't really a natural flow of the trail so it intersects on its self 2x. The main one is on a big downhill and a flat part. Just look before crossing the path. I was there with 3 other people out there and they all seemed to be doing their own thing so it made it tricky on the downhill part.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Trail is groomed on the man made .9 K loop for both classic and skate. Universal red klister with VR 50 over the top worked well for classic.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Very skiable for classic but no grooming.
The best skiing was actually off the manmade snow loop, and out on the trails. Early morning with colder temps skate ski was nice gliding over well mowed areas, avoiding old tracks and trail, just making my own. But some icy treacherous downhills. What was BEST was classic later, out on the telemark trails, especially the John Bauer trail, as recommended by 2 other skiers. Thanks guys for breaking trail, I added a few K more.

Afternoon
Observation
3pm Wednesday. Nothing groomed here at Telemark. Plenty of snow on the trails where snow was made last week but nothing has been groomed since the last snow of 3.5 inches.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Nothing groomed yet as of 11 am Tuesday on the Telemark Trails. Had about 3 inches of heavy wet snow. Snow has stopped as of 10 am. Classic skiing was good as you set your own tracks. It is a winter wonderland with no wind and trees filled with snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Snowmaking loop was groomed and tracked last night when the temp was 25-30 degrees. Track set up very well when the temps reached 8F degrees overnight. There is a loop with one short hill and one long hill which takes about 5-6 minutes to complete depending on your ability. Until the snow warms up a little I would classify classic as better than skating. The crowds are leaving today, Sunday. Come up and enjoy. Purchase your ski pass at the condo office.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Deep enough for good skis. Manmade, skate better than classic.
Cheers to CXC, nice early season skiing with some varied terraine and a nice hill. Looks close to adding another loop.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: CXC made snow trails had good coverage for both skate and classic with two loops totaling a little over a K long. Several hills on the base of the ski hill.
Snow firm with set tracks, they were making more snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Pretty good overall. Nice Skate surface. Serviceable classic track in most places. Good even surface for the first on-snow effort for folks like me who struggle with the transition from roller skis to snow.
A hamster loop for sure but a nice flat(ish) surface and a real climb. Plus it should be better tomorrow when they get the whole climbing loop finished.
