Skied the skate trail Sunday. It appears that both classic and skate were groomed sometime before our windy Friday. The skate trail had plenty of areas of mild drifting and some portions were obscured. The route of the trail was different from prior years in that, when skiing clockwise, it snaked under the bottom of the tubing hill (roughly southwest) rather than northwesterly, and this had the result that we actually were fully in-range of kids on sleds! The trail was not recognizable as a separate trail at that point because of the compaction from sledding. That was hardly the worst part though. Once again, the horse-drawn sleigh rides absolutely destroyed large sections of the skate trail. Why can this trail-use conflict not be solved!? This happens every single year. I am thankful that Edgewood is available for F/M area skiers, and appreciate Parks staff efforts to groom, but this is ridiculous.
