Conditions: Fair - deep snow, soft. Not uneven but really slow.
skied from birkie ridge - to boedecker - to firetower - on both trails. Fun and slow - but it was deep - around 5 inches of snow on top of the deck. From 1pm to 3pm today Tomorrow morning could be a great time to get out.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Beautiful new snow and soft trail.
Received about 3-4 inches of new snow last night on top of the grooming that was done last night. This made for soft track and fairly slow but beautiful skiing with snow hanging off the trees. Skied from Bodecker Road south back toward OO and also north a few kilometers. There is a classic trail and it is fairly firm as several skiers were ahead of me.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: 60km groomed and track set, more snow coming down!
More snow coming down this morning! We have now completed clearing from OO north to Powerlines (including Birdie Ridge) on both skate and classic trails and have been able to groom and set classic tracks. Enjoy the skiing and additional fresh snow!! Tonight we will hopefully finish opening up south from OO to Hatchery (currently cleared to Msqto Brk).

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Lots of snow, quite a few sticks, kinda lumpy, but great skiing.
First tried skiing north from Mosquito Brook. The trail was only rolled so quite soft, covered in sticks and low hanging branches. It was slow going while clearing sticks as I passed. Then skied out of OO. Classic trail north was pretty soft. Skate trail to Boedecker was pretty good. Kind of uneven and scattered sticks. If there is a pole stick fling world cups I did plenty of practice. Coverage was good. The loops at OO were about the same as north. Classic skied under the lights and that was fabulous. Tracks were soft in a few places but so fun over all. More snowfall and the hard work of the groomers to smooth it out and continue clearing the low hanging branches and it will be awesome.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good. The Boedecker loop was groomed with tracks set; very, very nice. Some twigs on the trail due to the very heavy snow, and slightly soft, but 'A' ski conditions nonetheless! No rocks, and mostly smooth and level surface, especially on the Classic trail.
What a difference a single snowfall can make! Thanks to the Birkie trail crew for grooming during the wee hours of Christmas Day!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Fresh rolled powder. Winter!
Skied from Mosquito Brook to Gravel Pit and back, about 13k. It is rolled but still fairly soft and lots of branches from the last windstorm. No classic track yet and it is bumpy but plenty of powder with dense base underneath. Groomers hadn't made it south of the Brook yet. Must have cleared a cord of wood off the trail. Lend a hand if you are out there!

Morning
Grooming
[ B skis ]
We continue to clear and roll. Last night we were able to roll and clear down to Mosquito Brook from OO, as well as comb and set classic tracks on both the skate and classic trails from OO to Boedecker, and the loops at OO. Today with so much skier traffic we will be off the snow, then back on tonight clearing more and combing down more. The process is taking lots of time with all the hanging trees - moving as fast as we can - thanks for you patience. Merry Christmas!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Rolled powder, soft.
Absolutely beautiful day to be out on the trail. Skied a bit north from Boedecker on the skate side and South out of Boedecker on the classic side. Skating took some getting used to as there was no real firmness to be had on the trail. Double poling worked excellent and some form of quick V2 could be employed in the flats. Once this snow can be packed down the trail should be amazing skiing.

Grooming Scheduling
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Wet, soft....but 7-8" of new snow!
As of 10 pm, grooming crew has had to pull off the trail. The snow is too warm and wet and is just clumping and getting pulled off trail! They will resume rolling at 4am in hopes the snow has dried out. We will roll north of OO to Powerlines first in the morning, then hopefully south to Hatchery Thursday night. If all goes well, we will be able to comb down trail Friday. We will have great skiing as soon as the snow cooperates! Thanks for being patient. check back often for updates.
