Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Monday morning: 22K of skate lanes and 19K of striding tracks were PistenBully'd last night. We received 1.5" of cold, dry, blowing snow and graupel, a fair amount of which we were able to till into the base before the wind started gusting at 7:00 AM. Skating will be good in the woods, but a little slow in the morning. Most groomed tracks have filled with blowing powder. All other trails are crusty and icy.
Looking ahead: We will groom another 15K-20K for Tuesday. Temps drop below 0F Monday night, which will slow our progress of using the PistenBully to break-up crusty bases after the weekend's rapid +58F to +21F swing.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Sunday morning: Spring skiing after a +58F high on Saturday! We were able to PistenBully only 8K this morning for the Skijor Race at 10:00 AM. Skate is 4/5, tracks are 2/5 at best and icy, on those groomed trails. All other trails are ungroomed and unsafe.
The PistenBully is out on the trails NOW, grooming skate lanes on the core interior trails. We'll be able to PistenBully at least another 15K-20K tonight for Monday morning.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Friday morning: 74K of great trails. Nutcracker, Nekoosa, Wolf Tracks, and River Run were groomed last night. The first half of VO2 Max is not in good shape, and the inbound half of Yukon Trail has no track. The snow is a good mix of new and old, skiing a little on the fast side. Skate decks are flat; classic tracks are deep and solid. Expect some track icing on tracks that were groomed and skied yesterday. The 15K Wilderness trails were groomed Tuesday night, and they have icy, skied-in tracks or 1"-2" of powder on well-groomed snow.
Conditions are looking great for 99% of the Squirrel Hill Skiathlon race course. The remaining 1% just need a little shoveling to cover thin spots.

Conditions: 0.25" of powder, with another 0.5"+ on the way. The PistenBully groomed 17K last night, and another 21K are in progress this morning, including Lake Marie. Snow is warm and wet. Tracks are solid, half-icy, and filling with light powder. Skate lanes have soft but wet corduroy with very firm decks underneath.Conditions will be fast after the fresh snow is skied-in. The Wilderness trails were groomed Tuesday night to very good conditions. All other trails have 1" of powder atop 3-day-old grooming.
Looking ahead: More grooming tonight, including continued prep for the Skiathlon Saturday morning.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Sunday morning: Short periods of very light drizzle and very light flurries. The PistenBully was able to go out at 2:00 AM. We groomed 22K for skate and classic to the best we could make it. Conditions may stay soft today, as temps hover around freezing. Yukon is great on the outbound, but only fair on the return; Island Hop is a good return option. VO2 Max did not turn out as nicely. Trails that weren't groomed are in fair to very good condition, with some tree debris and some icy patches. All trails might soften in the afternoon and ski nicely.

Conditions: Saturday morning: Not that bad! Periods of overnight freezing drizzle produced a very firm deck in the early morning, but it is quickly softening. Some trails have tree debris from Thursday's wind gusts.
Early reports are that skate lanes "ski like a low 4" and allow skiers to edge, pole, and glide, and that classical skiers can get decent kick from "fish scale" skis on the softening tracks. Conditions are expected to change throughout the day. Looking ahead: We anticipate being able to groom late tonight or early Sunday morning after temperatures drop below freezing for several hours.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Friday morning trail conditions: Our grooming held up nicely to Thursday night's brief drizzle of rain and small accumulation of snow. Trails are hard and fast, with some tree debris.
Skaters this morning have said that they can edge their skis and plant their poles. Striders this morning report icy tracks with decent kick from mohair and klister. Conditions have been rated from "Great!" to "Okay or good." More rain is forecast for Friday afternoon.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Perfect. Fresh corduroy. Great skating and striding.
Nothing against people, but I love days when you can ski fresh corduroy with perfect quiet. Great experience. Thanks to Winter Park for doing a phenomenal job grooming.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: 3 inches of new snow. Not all trails were groomed, but the fresh snow was too light to hinder skating.
Perfect ski conditions on Lake Marie as we trailed the Piston Bully.
