Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: 8K were groomed to very good condition late this morning, including the Cookie Loop, Nose Dive, and parts of X-C Express and the Base Loop. Many race course trails, including River Run, Nutcracker, VO2 Max, and Yukon Trail, are in poor to fair to good condition. We groomed excellent trails for Saturday morning, but 1.5" of wet, heavy snow at 11:30pm Friday, and 225 racers and +40F heat on Saturday were not beneficial to the snow.
Groomers will head out tonight after the snow cools down again.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: 7"+ of new snow Wednesday morning to Thursday overnight. 67K groomed excellent to very good for today, with up to 2" of powder atop Jan 28 grooming. Wilderness trails have 2"-7" of powder atop very good Jan 27 grooming. River Run is closed Friday. There are a few remaining thin spots on River Run, but it is safe for "race" or "A" skis. The classic tracks on Tornado and Survivor have been moved to the left side and set for reverse skiing of those trails. Not part of either race course: Island Hop has a slushy/icy patch near the Yukon Creek bridge.
We have 188 racers confirmed out of a 300-racer field limit. Registration is open until 30-minutes before race start. Certain trails will remain open to the public during the race, like C&D and Lake Marie.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: 4"-6" of new snow since Wednesday morning. Ski League & Night Skiing until 8:00 PM tonight! Groomers started at 6:00 AM when temps first fell below freezing. We have powder and soft tracks, which are all heading towards 5s by late Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The PistenBully and two Ginzugroomers are out now, with 15K groomed for skating and striding as of 11:00 AM, including most of the Cookie Loop and Nutcracker. The classic tracks on Tornado and Survivor have been moved to the left side and set for reverse skiing of those trails.
Nekoosa, Wolf Tracks, C&D, Lake Marie are in-progress now. Our goal is to groom non-stop until the Wolf Tracks Rendezvous, with race grooming starting Friday morning. Expect closures of River Run and Nekoosa/Wolf Tracks.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: 15K Wilderness trail striding & 11K interior trail skating and striding are excellent to good. Also overnight: 15K rolled and combed, and 49K rolled. Storm total was 4-5" of wet and dry snow. Groomers spent Tuesday rolling, shoveling, and brushing the 42K course, and the overnight tending to the 24K course. We shoveled snow on the thin spots on Nepco's, Yukon, VO2 Max, and more. Not on the race courses: Island Hop is icy and slushy near the bridge.
We will PistenBulley half of our trails tonight and the other half Thursday night. Race grooming starts Friday morning, and we plan to close Nutcracker, Nekoosa/Wolf Tracks, and River Run on Friday. See our Wolf Tracks page for information on ski trail restrictions for Saturday morning.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: At least 3" of new snow on top of trails not yet groomed. Conditions fair to good but slow.
I skied the base loop out to Tornado Valley, Survivor, Yukon, and C&D, to take me out to Lake Marie. The outer Lake Marie loop was recently logged so don't expect the beautiful scenery you may be used to. The new snow made for slow going. I was the first to skate it after the new snow. There was one other classic skier on the trail before me. It was nice to jump into his tracks on the downhills.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: At least 3" of snow since Monday afternoon, and snow showers are continuing into Tuesday afternoon and early evening. Groomers rolled the Cookie Loop and Sleigh Ride this morning, and they'll work on rolling, shoveling, and clipping the rest of the Wolf Tracks Rendezvous trails today. Otherwise, we're looking at 2-4" of a mix of wet and dry snow powder atop firm bases.
For Wednesday, we'll plan to have at least 20K-25K groomed for public use. Looking ahead: Wolf Tracks Rendezvous is Saturday, January 30! Grooming and trail maintenance will continue daily. There is a high potential that we will close Nutcracker, Nekoosa/Wolf Tracks, and River Run on Friday. See our Wolf Tracks page for information on ski trail restrictions for Saturday morning.

Grooming Scheduling
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Trails are still in good shape, with many stretches of Base Loop, Tornado, Lake Marie, River Run, and Wolf Tracks skiing excellently. 70K are good or better, and all 90K remain open today. There are decent skied-in tracks on the 15K Wilderness trails that make that trail true to its name; these trail will be groomed after new snowfall. We have just enough snow to produce great grooming, but there are a few, small, isolated spots or stretches that are thin, bumpy, or icy.
Looking ahead: Wolf Tracks Rendezvous is Saturday, January 30, and we will be doing snow maintenance all week, potentially closing some trails on Thursday or Friday.

Grooming
Conditions: Still great! 73K are very good to excellent for skating, 72K for striding. A total 90K are open, good, and skiable. Ski gently across the bridge to Lake Marie's third loop; the third loop is soft, but the rest is very good. River Run and Wolf Tracks are also in good condition. There are decent skied-in tracks on the 15K Wilderness trails that make that trail true to its name. We have just enough snow to produce great grooming, but there are a few, small, isolated spots or stretches that are thin, bumpy, or icy.
Wolf Tracks Rendezvous registration is 1/3rd full. If we don't get any new snow, the course should be good. With even 1"-2" of new snow, the course will be very good to excellent.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Wolf Tracks is groomed for skating for the upcoming race. I skated it and it was very good.
Wolf Tracks is usually classic only but they groom it for skating for the Wolf Tracks Rendezvous next weekend. I seized the opportunity to skate it today and it was very good. The skate deck was firm up to about the cabin and then it was not quite as firm. It was still good though. They had it rated 4 which I would agree with. If you'd like to skate, I recommend you check it out. It is very scenic.

Grooming
Conditions: 73K are very good to excellent for skating, 72K for striding. A total 90K are open, good, and skiable, including the third loop of Lake Marie, and all of River Run and Wolf Tracks. Wilderness trails have 2"+ of powder and decent but old tracks--we think they're great. We have just enough snow to produce great grooming, but there are a few, small, isolated thin, bumpy, or icy spots or stretches.
Inga Lami women's ski & snowshoe gathering is this afternoon and evening! No trail closures nor unusual chalet crowding expected.
