[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All of Timberland Hills is packed and tracked. Conditions are mostly good. The new "alternative trail" for skijoring, fat bikes, etc. is also groomed. The Lighted Trail remains closed due to logging, but we should have the trail back in our control soon. Bundle up and enjoy the snow this New Year's weekend.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Classic skied the outer loop twice today. Two tracks on the right were in good shape for most of the loop. The trail was bumpy and some dirt on a few uphills in the skate lane. But it was great to be on natural snow and solid tracks. One more snow fall should allow the bumps to be smoothed out. Easy day trip from the cities. Will do it again. Very few people out on Saturday and beautiful trails.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good snow cover but still pretty lumpy in spots. Very skiable though and they do have classic tracks. Their groomer broke just recently so could use one more pass to really improve it. Go right when you start - the grooming is much better. If you go, be sure to throw something in the donation box. Trails are groomed by volunteers and these trails are awesome so we want them to get that groomer fixed ASAP:).

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Quite good skating this afternoon at Timberland. About two inches new over previously packed trails. Some early season unevenness, but the only places that looked potentially thin were on a couple of steep hills/turns. Great natural snow alternative relatively close to the Cities.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
All of Timberland Hills is packed and in good condition for skating - people have been using good skis. We also set tracks on the short loop and engagement loop. The tracksetter did bottom out in places, so use rock skis if you use the tracks. The lighted trail remains closed due to logging.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
All of Timberland Hills has been rolled except the Ridge Run and Corkscrew. There is not enough snow to set tracks. The Lighted Trail is not open yet due to a logging project. Trails have a 1-2" base with some dirt and rocks showing. Conditions are poor and for rock skis only.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
We have snow! No grooming yet; we are going to let everything freeze up with the cold temps and hope for a little more snow. Watch for updates!
News: We have been getting increasing requests for more than skiing - so we are planning to offer a new multi-use trail this winter! The new trail will be groomed (probably without a classic track, but time will tell) and will be open for fat bikes, snowshoeing, skiing, and skijoring. Watch for maps soon. The new trail will use the county's existing tote road system that we haven't historically groomed for skiing. We request that bikes and dogs continue to stay off our regular ski trails, and signs to enforce this will be placed at all crossings with the ski trail.
