Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 11 to 20 of 21    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec
Friday, January 29, 2016
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Not good, thin, dirty, gravel in many places, and hard.
Use your B skis if you go.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Smooth and fast, but watch out for gravel.
Snow is very thin, with gravel showing through in many spots. So far the gravel could be skied around. The few trails that were newly groomed showed how thin the snow really is, as lots of dirt was pulled up. Rock skis, caution on downhills recommended.

Grooming
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Overall fair. Base level and firm with bits of gravel and lots of leaves in tracks.
We need snow. Grooming has been minimal as there is too much risk of pulling additional gravel up. Skiable on rock skis and pretty fast.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Inner loops, 10k and 20k classic tracks are in good shape. Skate lanes are fast and firm, but due to snow conditions there are still weak, thin areas, so B-C skis are suggested.
For the little snow received the trails are still very skiable.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: fair to good, skate may want B skis classic can use good skis.
Conditions have improved with the light snow covering the skate deck. Classic tracks are good, again light snow helping. The marsh trail was open and except for one short icy section was great. The alps were really good firm yet enough new snow cover to control the corners on hills. Overall classic better then skate but getting better.

Grooming
Snekkevik Ski race is on for tomorrow, 1/9/16, with registration from 8am-9:30am. We got several inches of snow Thurs and today. We are cancelling the 24k skate race due to thinner snow, but plan to run the MS and HS races as planned, and the 12k skate and classic adult races on a double lap course. The other trails are open for skiing, but suggest using rock skis or B skis.

Grooming
Conditions: Fair to poor with soil working to the surface in some areas. Tracks are still fair with occasional spots of debris. A couple trails are closed.
Grooming was done today on a few interior skate lanes. We will hold off/minimize grooming operations until more snowfall to prevent working up trail material to the surface.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Fair to poor, dirt and debris. Rock skis best option.
Lots of dirt mixed up in the skate decks. Classic tracks in a bit better shape. Extra blue worked well. Rock or B skis a good idea. Still, its snow and great to be out.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Trail has received much traffic today, but skate lane is solid and tracks are pretty sturdy due to colder temps. Grooming will be done at night for both. You can pick your way around poor areas in tracks and some icy spots, so use your B skis if you want to be safe.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Majority of the trail system has been groomed for both skating and classic. There are a few low wet spots, some icy spots, and grass poking through here and there, but good skis can be used.
Nine Mile now has a designated pisten bully on site at all times. We are now open through the holiday weekend and into the new year.
