Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Hiram this morning, beautiful day to be out skiing. A little more deer damage & leaves on the track but still in pretty good shape. Should still be in good shape for skiing on Monday. Best to go in the morning before the temperature starts to warm up and soften the snow. The snow was fast this morning with very good glide and no ice yet.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Hiram Ski Trail was groomed this morning. The track turned out fairly well. I skied it after it had set up for a couple of hours. The track was pretty firm and clean, a few scattered leaves after the strong winds this past week and deer damage already but still a good ski. The track setter was icing up a little so the edges of the track are not as clean as they could be. Get out and enjoy it before warmer weather.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Hiram this afternoon and trails were in very good condition. Most of the track is deep, firm and clean. The deer have been walking on some areas but not enough to do any real damage. The parking lot was plowed now. Worth the drive.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and tracked the fresh snow on the entire trail system. The track should harden up nicely without icing and all debris is buried in the fresh snow. Conditions are excellent.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trail was not groomed recently, classic tracks very thin. Still was a good ski, relatively fast but frustrating.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied Hiram again today and the warm sunny weather yesterday afternoon exposed more bare ground and leaves in the track. There is also an icy glaze in many areas now. Part of the trail system was also walked on. It was still a fun fast ski but you have to step out of the track in many areas to avoid the bare spots. It needs more snow and grooming again.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Hiram Ski Trail got its first grooming of the season today. We have cleared the trail of the downed trees and brush after the heavy wet snow a few weeks ago. The track is fairly shallow with exposed ground in some areas but you can always step out of the track to one side or another and avoid the bare spots. The snow was fairly fast this afternoon even with the temperature at 37 degrees. We need more snow to do a better job of grooming.
