It was nice to ski on over a foot of snow. We skied most trails. It was 8:00 AM and 32 degrees when we started, and finished at 10:30. Hard base with 1 inch corn on the surface great edging and fast. They were grooming when we arrived and were using a drag which was doing a very good job. We planted our poles off trail to check the snow dept in the woods and wow! Over two feet.

Very good conditions for skate skiing at Swedetown today. All trails packed and freshly dragged this morning, with the exception of part of one trail (Powderhouse) near the chalet. Very firm deck, but still easy to edge. Classic tracks were set full depth throughout, but looked glazed/icy in most places. A bit of tree debris in spots, but overall great snow.

Some new snow freshly tilled and tracked made for creamy corderoy for the skaters. Tracks were full depth which meant they were down to the icy-ish layers sometimes. Consequently any hard wax either slipped or grabbed so skin skis were the choice and worked well. By mid-afternoon things had softened up and, since there is a wax bench conveniently located, I broke out the klister skis. I picked up some pine tree schmutz but to no noticeable I'll effect.

The inch or two of yesterday's - fresh snow was tilled into the existing base for a perfect skate deck. A thin coating of fresh snow on top made for "velvety" skating. Classic tracks were also reset with a little fresh snow in them for good hard-wax striding. Felt like mid-winter.

Perfect conditions and perfect weather. Everything was freshly groomed with the Husky. As you can see from the web cam snow-mometer, there is still lotsa base. I did not see any hint of any areas getting thin. Swedetown has been exceptionally busy recently due to the dearth of opportunities to ski elsewhere, so the Chalet upper level will remain open on weekdays through next week. Lower level is always open. Plans are to groom through the end of the month then see what things look like at that point.

Skied on Greenstone Loop and found excellent conditions. Other skiers returning found the same on every trail. It was just like February but with the sun out.

Great skiing. Thick base groomed to perfection. We skied most trails in the morning. If your looking for mid winter conditions head to Swedetown.

Everything was groomed perfectly the day after the Bear Chase. Temps in the mid teens, alternating sunshine and snow showers, and the wind was a mere wisp. Couldn't have been any better!
