Beautiful classic tracks this morning! Perfect conditions except for the areas under the pines that still have some debris. The small debris that remains was much more manageable to ski around now than earlier in the week. Most of the trails in good condition, making the few debris spots worth getting around. We didn't ski the 13km loop as that wsnot freshly groomed. All three of the other loops were nice.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
It's been a tough year for grooming! More debris fell this week and it took awhile to get it picked up. Tried to work in the smaller stuff as best as I could. You will hit debris and shallower tracks in the pine areas, but the open hardwood areas are looking very good. Went for quality not quantity so the 13K did not get groomed. The 2,4, and 7K should be nice for the weekend. Enjoy!

First time on this trail. Skated the 7.5 km loop. The only downside was that there was a fair amount of debris, pine needles/sticks, on the first 1/3 of the trail. Despite that, still got good glide and the the skate deck was in decent shape, so thanks to all the volunteer groomers. Classic tracks were set and looked decent. It's really a nice trail system the has a cozy feel as the trail is just wide enough for a comfortable ski through the woods. Lots of medium hills and the loops are laid out nice.

Finally was able to get the 13 Km loop groomed up and set tracks. The storm last Dec. 15th brought down trees and learners. We worked a good three days to get it cut open. The loop is narrow in places, and uneven. The tracks set very nicely, but I pulled them more towards the center to try and get more packed pole plants. I'd expect it to be soft in places. There is some debris also. The rest of the loops are still in decent shape. I refreshed the skate deck on my way back to the 13 Km loop.

All loops are groomed and ready to ski. We skied the 13k loop. A little soft for pole plants, but great overall, given it's the first grooming since the ice/snow storm, and it will firm up.

Great classic and skate conditions for all three of the shorter loops ( 2.5, 4 and 7.5 km trails). The 12km loop was not groomed yet.

Grooming

Mukwonago received about 5 inches of fluffy snow. Thanks to Bob for going out and grooming the 2 Km, 4 Km, and 7Km loops! The trail should firm up nicely with the cold temperatures. The 13 Km loop has been cleared, and dragged once. There were about 25 trees across it. We'll hopefully get it packed and ready for grooming next week!

Beautiful day out at Mukwonago grooming! There is about 6 inches of new snow. I dragged and then groomed the 2k, 4k, and 7k loops. We started clearing the 13k this week, but it still needs some work before we can groom it. The tracks looked great and the skate ski lane was a little soft, but hoping it'll freeze up overnight. There is a separate snowshoe trail at Mukwonago, as well! Will be a great weekend to get out on the trails!

A hard working Forest Service crew worked on the Mukwonago Trails today. We started clearing the 13 Km loop, but didn't get very far. We'll keep at it next week. The 2, 4 and 7 Km loops were all groomed and tracked. Pole plants still seem soft in places. The skate deck is nice in wide, but also soft in places. It should firm up more overnight! Happy skiing! There is a separate snowshoe trail at Mukwonago, as well!

After striding at Rock Lake, Joanie and I skated the 7.5k loop here, based on Katie's report from yesterday. Considering the amount of new snow, the skate lane was fairly firm and made for a fun ski. Although the far end of the 13k loop was not open due to trees and branches down, we really appreciate the efforts made to keep the first half of this trail open. Our skiing today included our two longtime favorite trails in the Cable/Hayward area. Thanks again for the great grooming!
