[ B skis ]
Great early season conditions. Classic and skating on 40Km grooming daily. Most of the wet spots froze overnight with a low of 4F. Welcome back to winter!

Conditions: Well groomed fresh snow!
Having just spent 3 weeks in the Rockies waiting for fresh snow, it was a thrill to return to Biwabik and finally experience beautiful white-on-white conditions in the woods. After two days of snow, several passes of the Ginzu, and some bitter cold temps, the trails are in great shape literally overnight. I skated the Silver trail, which had exceptional coverage but was still a little soft. Then on to the Summit and Bronze, which were more firm but did have some water spots that were easily avoidable. Classic tracks were looking good for tomorrow. Thanks GR for a fantastic day on the skinny skis!

Grooming
We received two more inches yesterday, and are grooming 30+Km. Since Tuesday we received 7+ inches and have gone from "none" to "great guns". Christmas came a week early! Trails open: Silver, Gold, Cedar, Bronze, Summit, Northern Lights. The wet spots should be frozen with the cooler temps today and tomorrow.

Evening
Grooming
We received 5+" of heavy wet snow today and have rolled 30Km. It will be cooling off tomorrow and we will be able to bring out the Ginzu for grooming. Still many wet spots on the trail, but at least it is all white and we are finally skiing in the woods!

[ Good skis ]
Great snow! The Mesabi East and Ely Nordic Ski teams were out early this morning on a 1K loop. With more than a foot of base the snow held up well to the periods of rain we got earlier in the week. The loop is well groomed with classic tracks and plenty of room to skate!

Conditions: Good, clean coverage throughout stadium.
The 1+K loop survived Thursday's all day rain, while Mother Nature shared a bit of her magical white dusting Friday night. The groomers laid down a plush carpet for a morning of relays between Ely & ME.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Drove north in the pouring rain to find great klister classic skiing. About a Km with 2 climbs. Men did 10 laps, women 7. Was soaking wet but worth the drive. Thanks to John Filander for the great grooming in tough conditions!

Evening
Grooming
1.5 Km pistenbully groomed. The last few evenings, Mesabi East, and Ely high school and St. Scholastica collegiate ski teams have enjoyed the 1.25 Km loop. Pisten bully grooming daily for skate and classic. I never thought that I would ever be so happy with such a little amount of skiing! Praying for some natural snow and colder temps on Sunday.

Grooming Scheduling
XC Trails are marginal at best, not open yet. We only received 2" of wet snow the last snowfall on Dec. 1. Man made snow cover however is excellent with approximately a 1Km "loop" completed in the stadium, beginner area, and lower Alpine Ski runs with 18"-24" of base Giants Ridge opens operations on Saturday Dec 5th.
