I was finally able to get up to Giants Ridge for the first time this season and was not disappointed. I skated out on Northern Lights to get to Summit then to Bronze back to the ski center. Northern Lights and Bronze both had nearly pristine corduroy and what looked like good diagonal tracks. Summit had about two inches of fresh snow from last night that had yet to be groomed, but it was nice and fluffy on top of a solid skate deck, so skating was only marginally more difficult. Of course, the descents with the fresh two inches were really fun. Only saw two other skiers over the near 12 km I covered - quiet and beautiful today in the "great white north.".

10 out of 10 stars for trail conditions and weather! All trails were opened and freshly groomed during the weekend.

Incredible corduroy! Fast and fun. Everything but Summit, Oslo, and Northern Light/Wynne Creek are freshly groomed. These are likely the best trails currently in NE Minnesota. Giants Ridge has not been hit with the recent wet snow.

Outstanding conditions at Giants Ridge today. Freshly groomed trails, very little wind and gorgeous scenery made for a memorable day. Silver, Cedar and Gold trails were impeccable. I was skating, but the classic tracks (Gold and Cedar) were also perfect.

Giants Ridge didn't get the rain and warm temps that most other parts of the state did. The temps hovered right around freezing and the trails actually picked up about 2" of fresh snow. I skied silver, cedar, and gold, all having fresh corduroy and track. Great conditions at the ridge right now.

Everywhere I skied was Skitastic! Freshly set tracks and ultra combed corduroy was found on the Gold, Cedar, Laurentian, NL, Wynne Creek, Oslo Connector and Biwabik Spur. The Summit and Bronzes existing tracks were top notch yet, but the cord was precise and recently updated. Those GR grooming guys got it going on!

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Only chose B skis because I skied the 17k outer loop via Laurentian, including old school Wynne Creek. If you skip Wynne Creek, good skis are fine with minimal debris to avoid. Great grooming, looks like most of it was done after the hundreds of highschool racers yesterday. In addition to Wynne Creek, parts of Biwabik Spur and Oslo are a bit old school with the skate deck narrow, well used, and slightly uneven/bumpy, but still awesome. 99% of tracks were in good shape (other than Wynne Creek - not tracked, just rolled). Some outer sections had a bit of loose snow because the trees are shedding.

Skied the Cedar, Gold, Bronze and Oslo late in the afternoon and found super fresh and recent grooming on 3 out of 4 trails. Deep precise tracks, firm corduroy and my all time favorite- solid pole plants- connected all the dots for finding a fun rhythmic stride today. Though not up to date groomed, the tracks on the Oslo were beautifully intact, and the light glazing made for a whoo hoo grin on the big ride down! Thumbs up and more to the GR groomers!

Fantuckingtastic ski day! Perfect snow, grooming and weather. Fast, smooth, clean and easy to ski. Tracks are very good. What's not to like?

Perfection! Skied the freshly PB groomed Gold early this morning (unit was grooming back down into the stadium on adjacent trail as I headed up) before departing back to cities. Some 6-12" pole plants earlier in the week on the edges of various trails but not today.
