Trail Detail
Notes
Located 18 miles north of Duluth, the groomed trails are in nice primitive outdoor setting. The trails feature the "Wolfski's Ski Den" warming shack, open daily sunrise to sunset. In addition to the 21 kilometers of classical skiing, there will also be 11 kilometers groomed for skate-skiing. Trails are groomed Fridays and Mondays, and/or as needed. No fee or Minnesota State Ski Pass is required.Trail Reports

Skied 1/2 of Blue Ox before calling it quits. Clearcutting has created wind blown spots on trail. Didn't notice any rocks. Bare spots easy to avoid.

Course update for Boulder Lake Ski Races: Skied the 11km race loop, and counted about 2 dozen thin spots. Most are in first 2 km. Some of the pics are showing the bad ones. Heading out to shovel today and groomer will do light grooming tonight. Some snow forecasted to start at 10:00 am tomorrow. With the bad spots, you could probably avoid them if paying attention, but to be safe we suggest B skis unless we get an inch of new snow before race start. Measured about 8" in the woods. No classic track set.

Skied the trails for Sunday's skate race picking sticks off and shoveling the usual problem areas. Not groomed yet, but talking to the groomer this morning he's waiting for the snow to fall before heading out to groom, so stay tuned for grooming updates. Measured 6" on the trails and the lake crossing. Bear Paw was skated in, and the Blue Ox and Nine Pine had a track skied in.

Went to Boulder this morning and was surprised to find nothing happening. Gate to East parking was closed the trails had a few old tracks on them but the trails had not been groomed or even packed down. Skied the campground loop and than the connector trail over to the main loops. None of it appears to have been worked on this winter.

Boulder has not been groomed. There is a pretty good skied-in track throughout. Snow cover is mostly good, but it's a little thin in the clearcuts. It's better where there are still trees to block the wind. I wasn't sure whether to recommend B skis or rock skis. On Bearpaw, you could even use good skis.

Skied after it snowed. Trails are not groomed but are covered with snow. Skied on lake near ski shed and good with 3-4" of snow over ice.
