Tuesday evening on the manmade snow loops - Conditions were similar to yesterday, with a firm base and a varying degree of loose snow on top. Classic skiers reported good conditions in the tracks. The Main Street trail (east-west) was the firmest, with the least loose snow, while the climb up the Start Hill, Tail End, and the Magic Carpet were the best for skating.

Monday Evening - Snowmaking loops are very firm with generally a shallow covering of loose snow. Fine grooming by 100 +/- little grooming machines taking part in the Peak Nordic Kids program pulverized the loose snow layer and improved the skiing as the night went on. Double striding track was recently reset.

The man made loops are in very good condition. They did a deep till on Sunday night which resulted in a firm consistent base with plenty of snow for a nice edge and push while skating. They also tilled deep enough and set a very nice track for all the striders. Thanks to Mark (our volunteer snow cat driver/tiller) for his hard work and time as well as to our DNR crew for getting the trail back in tip top shape. Make sure you donate to the Lapham Peak snow making fund at the trail head. Without these funds there would be NO place to ski in SE Wisconsin.

Skied lapham around 10am this morning till noon. Trail had been tilled and was in good condition. Easy to get an edge and minimal ruts made for a fast and stable skate deck. Groomers did a great job making The block of ice skiable again. The new snow falling should help freshen the trail.

The manmade snow loops are in great condition this morning. Fresh grooming has packed down the skate deck -- flat and firm. New striding tracks set around the main loops. The "Main Street" trail has one icy spot and no classic tracks. There is a "serpentine" trail groomed through the Nordic Playground area that provides twists, turns, and bumps -- a little like a dirt bike trail on snow, and a fun change of pace. Plenty of base remains.

Surprisingly good considering the rain deluge we received yesterday. Solid deck, no puddles except in the midfield, slight fluff of snow on top. Tracks are in some areas full depth.

The manmade snow loops were regroomed overnight and are in relatively good condition. Skate deck is flat with loose snow in most areas, and some areas trending towards icy. There are occasional spots of dirty snow, but generally clean, though saturated due to warm temps. Striding tracks were reset, but appeared to be soft, often washed out, and occasionally icy. Still the best skiing in the region, as evidenced by the full parking lot.

Fantastic conditions on the manmade snow loops this morning. Grooming since yesterday provided a new set of double striding tracks and a flat, firm skate deck with a soft surface that made for excellent edging. This year's addition to the snowmaking trails - the Magic Carpet Cul-du-sac - has proved to be very popular, adding about 1/4 km (up and back), and creating a "big" loop of about 1.35 km.

The Manmade snow loops were touched up after last night's racing and are in excellent condition. The double striding tracks on the west straight-away were reset to the inside of the trail. Other striding tracks were not reset and remain in good condition with some shallow tracks and some wash-outs. Areas of the skate deck that were regroomed are firm and flat. Other sections of the skate deck that were not regroomed, such as Tail End Hill and Magic Carpet, have a layer of loose snow over a firm base. no ice in sight.
