Skied CCC and White pine in evening. Got to top of White pine by shelter just as loosing light and moon coming out. Beautiful. Classic tracks all nicely set through out and great ski. Little soft and slow at that point but firming up nicely. Thin under a couple pine sections. FYI, Some ice from melt last week built up on the down hill dip after coming across open area on lower section of White pine heading back into woods toward Oldenberg. Thanks for the great grooming this year. CCC and White pine has been my go to after work all season with good track set even with the low snow totals this year.

CCC, Whitepine and Thomson loop groomed to perfection! Perfect snow and deep classic track. Great job to Jay Cooke on the grooming this season.

I skied the south trails Friday 1pmish. I'd heard they were going to be groomed (they had not yet been). Close to the bridge the trail is essentially a walking trail packed enough you can ski on it. Farther away it is sort of your standard state park ski trail: it's been groomed, there's one or two sets of footprints around the trail the whole way, and one set of boots always lands right in the ski track. If you are looking for nice tracks, this was not your place to go. If you are looking for soft snow on top of previous grooming, following a trail that goes through the woods and has fewer people (on a Friday), it's a lovely trail, enough snow, and easy to get to from I-35. I used my best skis, there was one spot where a root was showing through the track (I picked up my foot, easy to miss) and one spot under a pine where there was no coverage in one track (I jumped to the other track).

Followed the tracksetter late afternoon on the White Pine Trail, with a little ski up and down the CCC/White Pine hill on fresh tracks to give the groomer a head start. Skied up to the dam on Greeley and caught the groomer but went down the long hill on fresh corduroy preceding the groomer. Took another detour to get behind the groomer and finished up on fresh tracks. Fast track, good coverage, good grip. Just enough snow on top of glazed trail for excellent conditions. Just a bit of grass stubble showing in the "new" (since the big flood) open area on the White Pine return which is very exposed to windblown conditions (wonder if they can plant some trees along this portion). Only down side was occasional slippage of pole plants due to the snow on top of the glaze not being deep enough for strong plants in some places. CCC/Thompson also groomed, corduroy on the remainder of the north side, which may be tracked Thursday. Groomer says plans are to track most of the south side on Friday. In more than 30 years of skiing at Jay Cooke, this is the first time, I've skied on completely virgin tracks and corduroy. Fun!

Icy and poorly groomed. Some areas were so walked on, the groomed path disappeared. The heat and sun from Friday resulted in very icy conditions on the tracks, making control and grip difficult.

The trails south of the Swinging Bridge had good cover, but were not groomed. The snow was crust with some drifting by the Leimer Road gate.

We skied the ccc loops and enjoyed a decent track for most of the trail. A few spots under the pines with a tiny amount of dirt or a root poking through. Very avoidable and shouldn't keep you away.

Oak, Triangle, Thomson, CCC and Whitepine groomed really well. Great classic skiing in Jay Cooke. Other side of bridge is rolled but not tracked.

Great ski at Jay Cooke. Skied most trails on north side of Hwy 210. All double tracked. Likely could have used my best skis. But base is a bit thin. If you've been thinking about going - Do it!
