Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Base of 8 to 10 inches. Very good to excellent condition.
The groom equipment is repaired and operational once again. The groomer went out and set tracks on both the Teuton and Valkyrie Trails today. The groomer is estimating a base of 8 to 10 inches on both trail systems. The heavy snow has bent over larger branches, smaller trees, and brush into the trail tread Valkyrie Trail. Forest Service employees went out and started working on clearing other sections of trails today while the groomer set tracks. Loop C will require a lot of work over the next few weeks. Trails are in very good to excellent condition. Please check the fee station for updates posted by the groomer following operations for the most up to date trail conditions.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Valkyrie Trail - Loops A, B, and Little A in very good to excellent condition with 8 to 10 inch base.
Second update: The groomer was able to set the tracks on Loops A, Little A, and Loop B of the Valkyrie Trail system. He is reporting that it is in excellent condition and there was a lot to roll so it took him longer to do. Sorry for the confusion. See the fee station for the trail condition report that the groomers post once they finish operations.

Grooming Secondhand
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good to excellent with a base of approximately 8 to 10 inches.
The Teuton Trail and Valkyrie Trails were rolled on Friday. The groomer was not able to track after he finished rolling the Valkyrie Trail today. Depending on the temperatures tomorrow, the groomer may finish setting tracks. The predicted adverse temperatures may prevent grooming operations to be conducted safely. Please check the fee stations for the updated trail conditions that are posted by the groomer after he completes his work on the trails. Skiers are reporting that the trails are in very good to excellent condition. The Forest Service is trying a few changes in the main parking area for this season. An area closer to the new warming room has been plowed to allow 4 to 5 cars to park. The row signs in the main lot have been removed. A official notice and comment cards will be placed at the fee stations, warming room, and chalet to collect comments from the users. Please let us know what you think of these changes and some of the proposed changes that will be outlined in the notice.

Grooming Secondhand
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good with both the Teuton and Valkyrie Trails having a base of about 8 inches. Some drifting on trails is occurring due to the higher winds in the area.
The Valkyrie and Teuton Trails were refreshed and tracks reset on Monday. Skiers have reported some drifting across the trails on more open sections of trails.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Plenty of snow but very poor grooming.
Skated all trails and, although there was plenty of snow cover, grooming was very poor. Groomer regularly left ruts in trail, classic tracks were cut completely across the skate lane in spots, and only half of trail was groomed in extended sections. Very disappointing for such an awesome trail! Would not recommend traveling unless forest service can report better grooming.

The Teuton and Valkyrie Trails have been refreshed and re-tracked as of Monday. The groom is reporting the base is still about 8 inches. Trail conditions are good.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Well-defined tracks, firm pole plants, good coverage throughout. Quite a bit of needle litter in the groves and a few oak leaf heart-stoppers else-where.
Classic-skied the entire outer loop of A, B, and C - what a gorgeous trail! Groomer sign at trail head stated that due to soft conditions, there would be no more grooming this year. Wondering if that would be so even after a good cold spell and/or lots more snow? If so, what a shame! Absolutely loved this trail and would definitely make it center to another weekend visit to the area (4-hour drive).

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Excellent. Classic tracks were recently set; firm and little used. I skied on Loop A of the Teuton Trail - a few thin areas on ridge at top of loop, but otherwise superb conditions.
Rumors that Valhalla would not be groomed this winter are obviously false - come out for some great skiing.

Grooming Secondhand
[ B skis ]
The Teuton and Valkyrie Trails have been cleared, rolled, and tracked as of Wednesday. There are still some branches and leaves falling into the trail. Also there maybe some branches or saplings bending into the trail due to the heavy snow. Skiers reported the trails as being in good condition to the groomers. Happy New Year!
