Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We groomed Hiawatha tonight including one pass on the multi-use trail. The new snow covered up all but a few of the grassy spots. We should be able to set the classic track tomorrow. The old classic trail was skied in.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
The trail had not been groomed as of yet at 11 am after last night's dusting but the classic tracks were well tracked from fellow skiers. All ice and grass was covered and made for a very nice ski.

Just me and Wily Coyote at 10:30 am. Classic tracks are skiable for the most part, albeit very icy. Had to get out of the tracks about 8-10 times due to grass. Thanks to the groomers for giving it the old college try despite having very little to work with.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed the whole trail today. All parts of the trail are open (4k loop, 2k loop and 1k loop). In the first 1.5k or so there are a few small patches of grass poking through, but the rest is all snow covered. The skating trail is a bit icy but is all open. Classic tracks are down for the whole 4k loop, though also a little icy.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
It is icy and hard, groomer is giving it his best and the trail does seem to be improving (I did ski before and after and after is better than before). Classic tracks are maybe best for people with ice skate blades, but there were a number of die-hard classic skiiers making the best of it. In any case, skiing is possible and occasionally nice and fast. It would be really, really great if people with dogs stayed on the dog trail rather than the skate track.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied early afternoon. The warm up and cool down took at toll at Hiawatha... Tracks were very icy with a few grassy spots. But, double polling was fast and fun, with detours around the thin spots. Deck icy and rutted. The good news is that the course still has good cover over most of the trail, so it appears the skate deck may be able to be refurbished. Classic will likely require more snow. B skis could be used if you avoid the thin spots.

Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
This Hiawatha groomer is obsessed with the trails at Hiawatha right now. I've been skiing there for 12 years, and it is by far the best I have seen it. I skied early this morning, and it was fast and firm. Thanks to the grooming crew for making it happen. Thanks also to the walkers, hikers, skijorers, fatbikers and all other non-skiers for using the interior (left side) trail. I groomed a practice area, the skate deck and the walking trail tonight. Enjoy!

Skated an easy lap at Hiawatha. The conditions are the best I have seen there in years! Maybe ever. Smooth skate deck and nice looking classic tracks. A few dirty/thinner spots most likely from earlier drifting. Thanks for an awesome grooming job, and for grooming a second trail for walkers. And thank you for signage about the ski pass and trail usage. There were quite a few people out.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The Hiawatha crew groomed twice today, and I was able to leave a fresh skate deck and new classic tracks after the skiers left tonight. Should be firm and fast in the morning!

Thanks Groomers! There were at least a half-dozen skiers in the 6 a.m. hour today, some with headlamps, some not. The classic track was excellent, and skiers were flying down the skate deck.
