Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails were rolled and groomed late morning. Corduroy on all trails, but no classic tracks set. Good coverage but winds may cause snow drifts to cover the corduroy in some areas.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied mid-afternoon, found the trails to be firm and fairly fast. There was about an inch of fresh snow blowing around, obscuring the trail some -- and the snowfall was just picking up as we wrapped up. A few thin areas (mainly grassy), but once and awhile there is a skied in track. Overall, nice to be skiing in slighty warmer conditions.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate deck is firm and a little lumpy, but I was able to get an edge everywhere. cool, but beautiful evening. The trail over the bridge is a little thin, but the bare spots have been filled in. 5K skate open. Too thin to set classic tracks. Lightly refreshed east side trail.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Columbia on Monday morning around 10 am. Crisp single digit temps and a blanket of 1/2" of new snow over Sunday grooming made the conditions a little slower. But the sunshine and snow/forst hanging from the trees (and even a sundog) made for a beautiful morning ski. Trails still soft, but I don't expect the dry, fluffy snow will firm up much without more grooming/skiing - no moisture in it to be firmed by colder temps. B skis for a few thin spots or mystery objects I skied over.

Afternoon
Observation
Stopped by to look at the trails at Columbia around 1:45 pm, and found the groomers in action! They were just making the first pass with the roller. Looked pretty nice, but I didn't ski.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomer has made several passes, as have the walkers and dogs. No tracks set, just rolled, but very nice to have some early action at Columbia!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle

Not quite... Optimistically gave Columbia a try. No tracks or rolling and not quite enough snow to skate. The snow was very sticky and thin, I grounded and stopped short quite a few times. Needs another inch or two!

[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
Pretty much sucked. Lost too much of yesterday morning's snow, and what was left didn't freeze up overnight. Sunday morning roller skiing in Afton will be a lot better.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Definitely the best skiing of the last several months. A little slow; on the other hand you haven't been practicing your V1 much on the roller skis, and now it's the right stroke on even the most gradual of slopes. Actually, the skiing was pretty decent, and if we don't lose much today and it freezes up a little tonight, it'll be even better tomorrow morning. If you're not going north, check out your local golf course -- it'll be a lot more fun than fighting the Black Friday crowds at the mall.
