Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
No change from a week ago, other than a light dusting. I am quoting a fellow groomer's report from his "Little Siberia" trails below, because my report is the same:
"We wait and wait, for snow. Our thin base held up pretty well after the thaw and rain of a few days ago but it's lumpy and hard, and lots of shrapnel on the trail from the high winds. I'm picking up the larger branches and I'll surely find a down tree or two before I'm through. I could scrape up the hard pack but it's not worth the effort or strain on the equipment. Hold tight. Snow will come. Really. Stay tuned."

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Today all trails have been rolled. No tracks were set. Snow in the woods is about 8". The rolled base is about 3". It's pretty rough underneath yet, but at least it's all prepared for the next snowfall. Skate if you wish, since no tracks will be set until we get enough new snow.

Firsthand: Classic Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
The Drummond Ski Trailhead is very saturated and soils are fragile in the parking lot and trails. The Forest Service has temporarily closed the parking area to help keep the parking area and trail tread in tact until colder temperatures freeze down the soils. Please observe this temporary closure to help preserve the parking area surface and trail tread and keep them both free of damage that cannot be repaired once it freezes. The Forest Service is monitoring the conditions of the parking area and trails and will open them once they are frozen enough to allow use. Updates will be posted here and on our phone line at (715) 373-2667 and select option 1 for the trail report. Thank you for your cooperation and patience at this time.
