Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 9 to 18 of 22    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Saturday, January 30, 2016
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Poor conditions. Trails not groomed and 5" of fresh, heavy, wet snow.
Do not recommend skiing today at this location. Warm weather and snow conditions caused the snow to clump to the bottom of the skis which made it very difficult to ski.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Not groomed, warm.
11am start. Not a good day to ski without glide wax. More advanced skiers seem to be doing OK. Needs to be groomed. Temps near 40.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent skiing at Pincushion today.
All the trails have been touched up, and skiing was fantastic. The downhills were very fast and fun. Skate lane is in very good shape, as well as the classic tracks.

Grooming
Conditions: 12-14 inches base with good snow.
All of the skating lanes were reworked Friday night so we have 25 kms of nice cordurory. Classic tracks are in good shape, it should be good skiing.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Great snow, good coverage save a handful of debris that's blown off trees.
Trails were groomed recently though the skate deck was soft with all the fresh snow they've gotten. A good problem to have. Didn't see any classic tracks set on the pincushion loop or the green circle loops.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Great tracking for classic skiing. Snow is firm.
Skied the big Pincushion loop on well groomed classic tracks. Trees were full of snow. Even in the zero temps, we skied hard and were actually too warm. Thanks to the groomers!

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: An additional 4-5 inches of new snow has improved trail conditions substantially.
The heavy wet snow we received over the past few days transitioned into perfect groomable snow with the colder weather. Most trails are fully groomed with the remaining trails groomed tonight. Classic skiing is greatly improved. See you on the trails.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Fast and clean - freshly groomed on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
My family and I skied most all trails here over the last 3 days - classic and skate. Fresh grooming on Saturday provided clean corduroy and better tracks. Thanks to Jim, Bob and Marlys for clearing the trails of debris before the holiday weekend. Great fun to ski on real snow!
