Lots of snow, 18" to 2 feet. Grooming was completed on most of the trails for both classic and skate. So nice to find winter again on these top notch trails. Kick waxing was a bit different than I expected. Plenty of packed powder but there must be some ground up ice in the snowpack. We went soft with hardwax which worked but covered power grip or grip tape might be just the ticket. Great skiing either classic or skate.

Snowman loop is fine for classic, however, skating is fair but rutted. Rest of trail system can't be skate skied due to 15-inch ruts from some vehicle/groomer. Trails may be suffering from inadequate packing and rolling. Saw plates from Thunder Bay - probably not good to travel here to ski until more grooming and packing has been done.

Conditions were too wet overnight for grooming so we got a start early this morning. The snow is very crusty and hard. All trails have had a preliminary groom with tracks for classic and a single pass for skating. West Overlook, Snowmen and their connector have double tracks set. All other trails have a single pass for skating and classic tracks set. The interior short trails, Ole Huuva and Hilfiker have not been groomed. Many people out on the trails this am and a bus was in the parking lot with a high school team doing training. We'll be back on the trails tonight for the finish grooming and completing the interior trails.

Classic skied today. All trails have been rolled, and around 1/2 of the trails have been groomed for skate and classic. I would say no problem using B skis, especially if skating. The classic track is good in most places, with a few thin spots which are easily skied around.

We received approximately 4 inches of new snow at Pincushion today. The snow has a fairly high moisture content. All trails in the system have been compacted and combed, and Lynn's Loop, Upper and Lower Snowmen and East and West Overlook have all been classic tracked. Temperatures will be in the upper teens tonight so the new snow should set-up quite nicely in preparation for more snow. It is expected that we will groom tomorrow night as temperatures begin to fall. If we do receive the forecasted snow, base conditions should be much improved and we will begin conditioning grooming for both skating and classic skiing.
