Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 17 to 26 of 47    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Monday, March 19, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Pretty nice skating conditions. Looked like Robert had just finished grooming. He broke up the crust perfectly, in my humble opinion. Just cold enough today to prevent the trail from getting too soft in the sunny areas.

Grooming Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Took a quick lap around the skate lanes of the 2.5, 6 and 10K loops with the groomer this morning, breaking up the hardpack. Between that and the sun coming out and softening up the deck a little bit, the skate lanes are looking good with no bare spots or debris. The track is starting to melt out and getting thin in a few sections. I tried resetting it in a few places but it didn't form up that great. Talked to a couple riders on the fat bike trail this morning and they reported great bike trail conditions.

Roughed up the skate lanes early this morning and they look great - still plenty of base, no bare spots and no debris. Tracks still look good and left them be. Great spring conditions.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Picked up 1-2" of snow this morning and just finished grooming all the snowshoe and ski trails and track set the entire 20K of ski trails. Trails are clean of any debris, tracks are full depth, base is smooth and firm, temps are in the 20s, sun is burning through - can it get any better?

Morning
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Cleaned up the skate lanes first thing this morning and then took a quick ski on the 10K loop. Skate conditions are excellent, the classic track is starting to look a little used up. With good cloud cover and temps right around 30, skiing should be good all day today.

Tidied up the skate lanes for the weekend. All trails, including the fat bike are in phenomenal shape. Weather looks great - don't miss out on one of the last weekends with perfect conditions.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Picked up a thick inch of snow this morning - enough to tidy up all of the trails (one last time?) - fat bike, snowshoe and ski. Everything is looking great again. The fat bike trail has a rock-hard base and groomed up nicely - however there were some pretty deep ruts hard-packed in, that I imagine are still there, just hidden now, and will be felt riding. The ski trail is in great shape with a solid base, clean of debris (last couple days have been breezy) and new tracks set - the tracks came out nice and are a big improvement over what was there. Winter's days are numbered - enjoy the great conditions while you can.

Blended up the 20K of skate lanes this morning and the trails came out fantastic - fast but not icy. Tracks were not reset but they are still looking good and classic skiers were having a great time. Lots of fat bikers out this morning, all reporting great conditions on the bike trail as well. Once again, come early for best conditions.

Groomed the fat bike trail this morning and it's looking and riding great with a rock solid base...for now. Temps are rising quickly and we're getting full sun so conditions will change soon. Skate lane of the ski trail was blended up this morning as well and is in great shape...for now. Come early to enjoy some great spring-like recreation.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Picked up a thin-inch of snow this morning but it was enough to groom and blend with the glazed snow below. All 20K of the ski trails were groomed and trackset. Snowshoe and fat bike trail were not touched. Temps are back above freezing. The plan for Friday will be to scratch up the skate lanes and groom the fat bike trail early in the morning. If you want to come out and play, play early.
