Beautiful trail as always but unfortunately the wind and light snow have deteriorated conditions since the last groom. Tracks and corduroy could still be seen, but everything is covered with a layer of snow and some parts of the trail were drifted over. Plenty of debris especially in the pine-covered sections and on the connector trail down to Cascade Lodge, which might warrant B skis for some. The "Short Loop" and part of Pioneer Trail between J and I were ungroomed/closed.

Started at Deeryard which is in great shape. Decided to take Pioneer connector trail to Cascade Lodge. Connector is fine for about 2k but the debris rolled into the tracks makes for difficult skiing the whole long descent. The last 4k was a hair-raising skill builder for control in less than ideal conditions.

Skied the Pioneer area yesterday and the Deer Yard loop area today. Deer Yard is in great shape, deep snow, excellent grooming and sheltered enough for the snow to be holding up. There are some pine bits on the track in spots, but easily skied. While the groomers did an admirable job, the Pioneer loop is still sort of choppy because of the downed trees from the storm over the holidays and a number of freeze/thaw cycles. There are a lot of downed trees that were simply groomed over but nothing that would catch a ski. This area really needs more snow so the groomers have more to work with. The far Pioneer loop and the Short loop on the Deer Yard side are not groomed and apparently have not been cleared of downed trees.

Skied the section from the Ski Hill Road to the Caribou trail and back. Newly groomed and cleared. A bit of debris left from the clearing, but not bad. Track was in great shape and skate lane was firm. Thanks for getting this trail on line.

Massie was fine for classic skiing between K-Q and Q-J with skied in tracks. Stay clear of the Hall loop until they re-groom. Seems some snowmobilers found the trail unfortunately.

Some fresh snow overnight. Classic tracks were still useable and skied in. Skating would have been rough. Warm sticky snow, but Massie loop trails were cleared of blow down and fun! Thank you to the crews!

Another 8" dropped on the trails last night. Lots of downed trees across the trail from the storm a few days ago. Nothing was groomed as crews are busy clearing trees from the trail. So today was a trail-breaking trudge-fest. Very beautiful though. A guy who seemed to be in charge told me that a recently purchased used pisten bully will arrive tomorrow.
