The snow keeps multiplying... Additional loop opened up this morning. Very soft snow on new loop, perfectly firm snow on existing loop. Temps around 25 made for excellent skiing.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good skate deck. No real ice. Little bit of sugar on the small hills. Classic tracks looked solid.
Great work by Hyland staff. It's nice to be skiing again. Snow guns not running when I was there at around 7pm but looked like they were getting warmed up for some nighttime snowmaking. Star loop in good condition without bare spots.

Man made small loop still the only open trail with pretty decent skiing. A couple dirty spots but avoidable. Skied from about 3:30-4:30 today and surprised how few skiers were there. Even when I left at 4:30 there weren't many skiers there and only a couple smaller groups of high schoolers. I was expecting hundreds of kids.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Firm and fast skate deck, good classic track.
I took a quick ski around lunchtime at Hyland and found a dozen or so other folks out enjoying the manmade loop. I don't have my snow legs back just yet, so my old rock skis felt a bit skittery without much of an edge. The classic tracks were glazed but holding well. The skate deck had been well skied in by this time with a few divots here and there but was very skiable. The uphills seemed to offer the most give. There are some dark sections along the trail but no obvious gravel or dirt to cause damage. What a treat to be on manmade snow with a teaser of natural snow hinting at a larger trail system waiting in the wings.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Great early season skiing.
I wouldn't bring out the race skis quite yet - some brown / gravel spots showing through. But hard packed firm snow. Keep up the excellent work - hope more trail opens up soon.
