Trail Detail
Notes
A great hilly trail system completely in the woods. Because of the woods, the trails hold their snow better than most.Trail Reports

Skiing was poor-fair for classic, fair-good for skating. Conditions probably have deteriorated since warmup started. Temperatures were rising above freezing and I probably needed wax for warmer conditions. There were many spots where the ground was visible, mainly in the form of leaves popping up through the snow. It was hard to use the tracks - Not enough grip on the uphills, too fast on downhills.

Skated the 5+ km outer loop at 2 pm, noting the inch deep edge to edge "corduroy", that is, grooming that appeared as ski-width wide tracks about an inch apart, interrupted by intermittent tire tracks or ruts. Good coverage, some grass showing through on hills, little dirt. Just hard to skate on my first time out, or rather, hard to hold the same line with both skis while gliding. Still, I had pleasant 10F degree sunny weather, adequate CH4, and just a number of pleasant sections on this hilly loop.

New snow had coated the beautiful oak forest of Terrace Oaks on the glacial moraine of the south Minnesota River Valley. This nice rolling set of trails was not rolled yet so we were skiing in newly skier made classic tracks. I don't think we had an major scraps or scratches on our rock B-skis and the skiing was fun as we heard the call of owls many times. Great trail that flows really well with good run outs on down hills. A gem!
