Ski trails at Lake Elmo are being packed as of today. No tracks will be set until we get a more substantial snowfall. Stay tuned for further updates!

Two trips today, two very different conditions. No grooming. I was the first skier out this early afternoon on classic skis first. The Yellow trail had 1-3 inches of fluff on it. There were minor issues. The first lap was on rock skis. The second lap was on the B set of no wax skis. It was slow. I grabbed the skate gear for a try in the stadium area. That was ugly technique on my part but it proved the area was skiable for the Ride and Glide club tonight. When Ride and Glide got on the trails, the Yellow was mashed down flat. I skied classic woodies. It was fast on the hardpan. Some of my afternoon track had held up. The older kick wax got ripped off but the newer batch stayed on the other ski. Less bumps under the new wax? Overall, the evening (current) condition favors the skate skier. If your classic skills are solid intermediate, you are probably okay at Lake Elmo. All skiers should expect minor issues to ice to gravel on any trail. Ski alert on the rock skis.

Limited snow coverage but skiable if you classic ski. Had to run in some stretches, and stayed off to the side of the trail where the short grass is. There we a handful of people out skiing. Fun first outing. Keep expectations low and focus on fun :-)
