Grooming
[ B skis ]
The Soccer field (north of the parking lot), was packed, groomed, and double classic tracks were set this morning. The snow is soft now but should setup nicely as the day progresses. This should be a great place to work on technique or just have fun on a nice flat surface.

Conditions: Awesome, great skate grooming, very nice few bare spots, very level nice wide trail.
Very very good grooming for skate - way to help our low snow season. Great work to all staff!

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Skating good, classic fair.
Entire system was groomed this morning with the exception of the Gold and World Cup specific segments. New tracks were set on the Ski Games segment and are full depth. There are scattered bare spots in the bottom of these tracks. The classic tracks on the remainder of the system were set on Saturday morning and not reset today. The old tracks are approximately 1/2 normal depth but appeared to be in good shape with little or no bare spots. The skating deck is firm with nice corduroy. The trails are a little bumpy due to the low snow cover but otherwise in good condition.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
All trails packed for skating and shallow classic track set. Skating is 99% very good; many bare spots in the track. Ski Games trail across the road not groomed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Almost full coverage with a few areas of sticks and woodchips.
Overall a great ski with the trail covered almost 100%. The extra snow overnight was a nice addition although it didn't look like it was groomed. Was a little slow due to the warm weather tonight. Nice to see people on the trails!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good for skating.
Great ski at Battle Creek this morning. Thin layer of firm but soft snow (not hard-packed) was great for skating. Some sporadic leaves, grass and wood chips sticking through, but nothing damaging to skis and pretty limited. Skied all of the trails and everything had decent coverage, including the downhills. No classic tracks. Great hill training.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good coverage, freshly combed, no tracks.
I was pretty amazed at how good the trails were. Even the WC and Gold trail hills in the back were in good shape. Once you get past the start are over the little hill by the pine trees it is a whole new world. There is stuff here and there but really no problem.

Morning
Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: The entire system on the Winthrop side of Battle Creek was re-groomed this morning. Thin base, but still good coverage throughout for skate skiing. B skis recommended.
With minimal grooming, the hard packed surface has been greatly improved. Still not nearly enough snow to set tracks, but good for skate.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Hard packed, icy in certain spots, undulating.
Trail was thin in some areas mainly in the back section (Gold loop). Lighted trail was covered with a few twigs and rocks showing. Some undulating areas of the trail making it difficult to keep a good stride going. Tracks were not set. Could tell there had been a lot of traffic since the initial grooming of the course. Rock or "B" skis highly recommended throughout the course!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Thin but nearly complete coverage.
Many thanks to the grooming team for preparing the Battle Creek trails so quickly. Thin coverage but very few exposed spots. Be careful on some of the uphills and spots under pine trees where your skis are more likely to cut through the thin coverage and run aground. Downhills were in nice shape. B skis recommended.
